I saw my rheumatologist Thursday. The only thing she asked me was 'where is your pain' and is it in the muscles. Then she increased my Lyrica. I don't know what I expected but she didn't ask about other symptoms at all. She didn't suggest PT or massages or anything. Doctors here won't allow you to take more than 2 50mg tramadol 3 x day. I take that and now 200mg Lyrica 3 x daily. What does your doctor ask you? Does he/she suggest anything besides medicine?
Sigh, always the meds ... I've ordered a whole ton of books about fibromyalgia and am considering further altering my diet to see if no wheat makes a difference since like you my Dr offers meds only .. its hard trying to improve overall daily living without a team effort and the big picture. Sorry you aren't being supported and she isn't open to have other types of treatments. My Dr finally listened to my concerns about having fibromyalgia .. gave meds and now I discovered he won't refer me to a rheumatologist ... Something about none of them treating fibromyalgia ... Its frustrating beyond belief ... Wish you weren't in the same type of boat.
Not all rheumatologists treat fibro. You have to ask them. My primary care doctor I use to see sent me to one to be diagnosed. She diagnosed me with fibro by the points and then said she didn't want to see me again. I've had to find my own doctors to treat me. I went gluten free. It cut my pain level in half.
Thanks for the info about gluten.. I eat lots of spices and that helps. Yes my Dr did the pressure point test .. I have heard of some local rheumatologists who do treat fibromyalgia ... It's sounds like a challenge to find a dr to treat it everywhere. I am fortunate that I've been feeding my son gluten free for years so it's not a huge switch. Done with dairy already .. apparently some do better without the nightshade family ... We eat a lot of tomatoes etc ...that would be the hardest.
