Doctors say you are just "anxious"

Aug 02, 2018 10:51 AM

So I have been living with chronic pain for a while now and my doctors still dont know what it is, alot of the doctors just say "its just anxiety" it is so frustrating because I live in so much constant pain and all the doctors do is brush it off and just say the "easiest answer". I have had anxiety for as long as I can remember and obviously know it's not the case for this so whenever they hear that, they stop taking me seriously.
Has anyone else had this problem and how do you deal with it?

Yes I’ve also have dealt with that the first two years till I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia/chronic pain syndrome but i went to ER a lot, wrote all my symptoms and complained so much that they finally took me seriously plus I asked for second opinions. I'm a navy veteran and went to 4 different VA hospitals. It has and continues to be be a battle for me after being diagnosed 7 1/2 yrs ago. My best advice is to write what you feel and get second opinions thru your own clinic and explain your not trying to have multiple doctors but feel your not being heard.

Been there, done that. Fibromyalgia diagnosis after being told all in my head for years. Get real CBD oil. Life changing. I’m human again.

Yes, fibromyalgia flare up can be triggered by anxiety, this happened to me. My doctor had to put me on anti depressants and pain killers cause the pain was unbearable which was making me depressed. I can imagine your pain right now, so sorry that you are going through this.

Had a physio tell me my vertigo and numb back was all anxiety because I passed the Dix-hallipke test. Very obnoxiously suggested I get Jesus to fix it.

I have the same problems. I feel like drs see s little woman complaining. The best thing I’ve done is tell them directly what you want when you get there. - labs radiology tests referral etc. if that doesn’t work I take my husband with and that gives
1) a audience to the appointment so it’s not a private conversation and sometimes this makes drs more aware of manners and how they talk to people
2) someone else to bounce the information off of after the appt, sometimes I interpret things one way and my husband sees it another
3) another person to back up what you say and provide information you may not even bring up because
Hope my experience will maybe this you come up with a way to maneuver to get things done that you truely need.
