Drunk topic.....obese is not a problem for chronic pain most times : drunk fact

Jun 05, 2015 1:44 PM

Just wanna put it out there and maybe I'm really drunk...😁😁😁😁

I'm about 86 kg at 168 cm...I don't call myself skinny but rather meaty. I've being told that due to nerve pain from various diseases, it's not about being fat..

I've showed up at my local hospital with many different local GPs......they tell me to take shirt off and called me fat and said I needed to loose a whole lot of weight to get control of my back....I've heard this more than 10+ times.....I recently went to a real back specialists and they told me it's not about how obese I am but SOMETIMES... It's how my mental signal is sent. If I feel pain and I think it's painful, it will most likely amplify the pain intensity...I agree!!! I played a lot of sports for my size namely soccer and I do run a lot!!!!!

To those doctors who thinks I'm fat.... ..!..

It really is a shame, Octobot, but there are many, many physicians that blame obesity for everything. Now, I do know that there are some things that have been proven to be exacerbated by being overweight but most things aren't directly caused by being fat. I've heard it all my life. I've always been large from the time I was a little kid. The fact that my bones are falling apart and that I have nerve damage and several other things, I know are NOT caused by me being overweight. It is distressing when you go to the doctor and they look at you, listen to your story (or half listen) and then tell you, Lose weight and you'll be all better..... It doesn't work that way. Sorry you have had to deal with that.

Alwayzinpain!! Exactly..those mofos I would tell them to go review their medical books!! I'm in chronic pain...what they give me a short fixes ....they don't give me actual pain killers, can't believe I survived on Panadol and Ibrufen with the odd goodies like oxy condone for the last 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I'm fit and able, u think I don't wanna do more outdoor activity??? I can't even wake up energised!!!!! Fu to all the doctors for being a smart ass and being judgemental !!!!!! If I could only let u feel when I visit you...u would cry more than me, u would rather die more than me, u would probably be more fat more than me!!!

I despise doctors for just this reason! According to them my joints would stop dislocating and my bone spurs would magically disappear if I just lost weight! And I would loose weight if I would just stop eating so much! I've ate under 2,000 calories a day for 30 years. If I eat more than that it doesn't stay down, but I'm obviously eating way too much! Doctors suck.

My hips, knees, back and ankles kill me. I am 5'9 and 125 lbs. Nope not my weight. Might be my RA or scoliosis rod but it is not my weight. Doctors cannot see the patient thru all their paperwork. I have had doctors never look up.

I'm 5'11 (180.34 cm) and at my heaviest I was 330 lbs (149.69 kg), I was told if I lost weight my joints would feel better. I've lost 100+ lbs (~ 45 kg) and I still hurt on a regular basis...

I wish Dr's could understand that our nervous systems are wired wrong some how. Which causes us to be more sensitive to pain signals. It's not how we want to live but this is our lives we can either curl up in a ball and cry or we can fight to live our lives such as they are. I know how hard it is for me most days I just want to stay in bed, but I can't I have to get up moving so I can help with my granddaughter, and I have animals I have to take care of also. I thank God every day for being able to get up and move. It may be slow but I'm moving lol.

I know 2 yrs ago I weighed 265 lbs I am 5 ft. I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery due to my health issues. I now weigh 186 lbs and my Ac1 the last time I had it checked is 5.7, and my blood sugar is controlled by 10 units of Lantus 1, a day, my blood pressure is having more problems with being controlled because of my pain. I have to take 3 different medications. I'm not giving up I am hoping the more weight I loose the lower my blood pressure will get.

I have chronic pain, and lost a ton of weight, but I've almost always responded backwards to med treatments with side effects.
Benadryl wakes me up, melatonin usually wakes me up.
The only time I gained weight was when the nausea went away.
I'm still trying to get the weight back.
I feel like people forget that chronic pain holds no judgement.
It doesn't matter if you're athletic, smart, happy, depressed, young, old, or anything else.

I have chronic pain, have always been what doctor's consider obese. At one point I was almost 400 pounds and I have lost over 100 pounds and through the journey, I can say that my back began to hurt worse and I am still in the same amount of pain. Doctors have to STOP blaming folks problems on their weight just because they don't comprehend why they are hurting or can't find an answer for why they are hurting.

Ferretbandit, you are very wise. That is so true.

I think bad doctors use your weight as an excuse not to properly treat you. It's the easy answer for them. I think some doctors are even prejudiced against overweight ppl.

Being overweight is not a moral failing. Despite what some idiots believe, there are a thousand different reasons why ppl are overweight.
1. The food industry. We don't eat food in a vacuum. It comes from somewhere. It's been proven that healthy foods are more expensive then processed foods. They take more time to put together. They (processed foods) are far more available. Some even contain additives that can be addictive.
2. Medical Conditions. Again, despite popular denial, thyroid conditions are not the only ones that can cause you to gain weight. Depression, anxiety, addiction, quitting smoking, chronic pain, etc.
3. Medications. So many prescriptions can cause weight gain it's not even funny. Ppl with depression are doubly screwed because both the condition and medications for it can cause you to gain weight!

The whole system is screwed up. You would think that doctors would understand that, yet they seem ignorant, ready to pass judgement on your sin of being human.

Amie you are right on point. The government controls the food industry and we are the loosers. Take back your own power. You do NOT have to pay more for healthy food you just have to be smarter. Farmers market, garden hydroponics are great and even open source plan for apartments

Jun 07, 2015 9:48 AM

Look up 'hydroponics + diy' you will have several free 'open source plans'. Good food in healthier body. Processed food in autoimmune issues and fat. There is also a really good Ted talk on diy hydroponics.
