Elbows and Fibro

Oct 25, 2016 7:12 AM

Hi!
I was wondering if anyone was having problems with their elbows? I have been in a bad pain episode for the past few days and cannot seem to straighten my left elbow without intense pain. It feels muscular, but I want to make sure it's not a symptom of something else.

I think we all know fibro can do weird things but if it's really intense, especially when you move it, i would think it's something else. Might be muscular or something like tennis elbow if you used your arm alot

It's strange that it is my left elbow. I am right handed and use my right most of the time, but perhaps that's why, maybe the muscle is weaker and more prone to injury, or pain.
Thanks!

Could have just moved wrong or slept wrong, sometimes it just takes that one wrong thing

I do have quite a bit of problem with my elbows. The last few days I've been having issues with my right arm going tingly and feeling like I pulled a muscle. It may not be my fibro tho like the others mentioned.

My elbows were so bad I could hardly use my arms. It part of what sent me on the hunt for answers. I got told it was tennis elbow. I knew it wasn't. Both elbows at once started hurting badly out of nowhere at once? It turned out that it is lupus.

I have had the elbow pain for years and it was always written off as fibromyalgia. (As if "fibromyalgia" is an exuse for 98% of the drsI see to just ignore my symptoms). I got a nerve conduction test and mri a coulple months ago from an orthopedic surgeon and her= diagnosed Cubital Tunnel

Your elbow pain is either Golfers Elbow or Tennis Elbow. I have both. I sleep with my arms straight so the muscles relax instead of being bent all night

When in doubt the best thing is to have it checked out. It could be something simple but it could also be a lot of other things. Best of luck to you.

Thank you to all. Lupus is in my family and my test came out negative... but I have thyroid cancer. I feel like once they found that everything else is "second" I understand the importance of treating the cancer, but I don't want these other symptoms ignored. I also have tarsal tunnel syndrome in both ankles, so it's possible it's a tendinitis type of thing.
I'm so sick of doctors! I feel like I live in waiting rooms!

I was diagnosed with cubital tunnel. I want to see the specialist to get a brace for the other arm. I don't play any sports but I "fell" off a bridge 10 years ago and impacted my shoulder

Yikes! I'm so sorry, hope it all works out for you! I have been in two car crashes, but other than that no other serious trauma. My mom has carpals tunnel &I a brother has tendinitis in his elbow. don't know if that is related or genetic.

Maybe I will interrogate my brother to see if we have similar symptoms and if so I'll go get it checked...

This feels never ending!

I have been told I tested negative. As a former nurse and after so many testing I final requested a copy of my medical records. Found out everything was labeled as a Fibromyalgia issue. Hmm.. And my test results came back with a higher than normal ANA (did I get that right? Sometimes brain fog holds letters prisoner). So now I am being labelled as (forgot this word too.. SMH) but basically told its high but not enough to diagnose. Oh I remember now. It was borderline Lupus. My mom is 78 and was finally diagnosed last year.

That seems like bull to me... have you considered a second opinion?
