Emergency Room Blues

Mar 15, 2017 8:56 PM

I spent the better part of last night in the emergency room due to severe abdominal pain and bloody stool. I didn't stay the whole night because all labs and images came back clean. I hate not having a diagnosis, I hate not knowing what's causing this horrible pain. When I had my follow up with my GP today he suggested constipation and referred me to a gastroenteologist. Although constipation has pretty much been the norm for me since childhood, it has never been such a severe source of pain before. It just feels like there's more and I'm not getting any answers. It's frustrating as hell, and now I'm back on an absurd amount of laxatives that are supposed to substitute for pain meds.

Are you on any opioids? They can cause opioid induced constipation. It can become serious if not dealt with. I hope you find some relief soon. Take care.

Nope. Never took any kind of narcotics until they gave them to me at the hospital.
