ER bound

Nov 06, 2015 6:59 PM

Well, got word from my doctors office that I need to go to the ER tonight. Possible wound infection. Just what I did not want to be doing on a Friday night. Not bringing my tablet but will update when I get home.

Cellulitis on incision. On Levaquin. Have to go follow up with gyn on Monday. Ugh! Caught it early thankfully. Going to take a Vicodin and go to bed now.

Nov 07, 2015 12:41 AM

And insomnia has hit me again. I need a do-over of this day.

Nov 07, 2015 9:48 AM

Finally starting to feel a tad more human this morning now that I've gotten some sleep and coffee has kicked in now. I must say that it was NOT a pleasant experience at all last night. Just going to wait it out and call my gyn back on Monday. The doc on call this weekend unfortunately was not my surgeon, and I don't have a real established relationship. Given my past trust issues, I don't feel real comfortable with somebody different right now. Might not have a choice though but to be seen by him.

Nov 07, 2015 5:25 PM

You ALWAYS have a choice Amanda!!! If you needed to go to the ER, you can dismiss the doctor you don't want and tell them to get you in touch with your surgeon. Sending you {{Hugs}}, love and prayers as always my friend. Keep your chin up.πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»

Nov 07, 2015 7:01 PM

Alwayz, you are right. I do indeed have a choice with this one. Now need to stop being so damn stubborn and take a damn pain pill already so I can stop hurting already.

Nov 08, 2015 8:38 PM

Amanda, I wasn't online yesterday. I hope you're doing better today. Hugs & prayers! πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Nov 09, 2015 1:55 AM

Flappys, yes I'm okay. Sorry, have been sleeping for most of the day yesterday. Still not really feeling it at all. Is really uncomfortable to lay on tummy but I think it's just a stitch abscess. Waiting on a call back from the doctors office in the morning(like always lol).

Nov 09, 2015 3:28 AM

Amanda, been thinking of you. As always, I'm stricken with insomnia and have not been to sleep yet. I have to be at my pain management appointment by 8:30am and of all days to have that appointment, it's my 50th birthday. So, it will be to the doc, to the pharmacy, home and into my special recliner with the heat and massage and watch tv. That's all I'm doing.. Just another day. Oh, I am going to take a trip to Massachusetts this week to see my best friend. It's a tough trio but I look forward to the mountains and the log cabin and the horses and the peace and quiet. I hope that everyone is having a peaceful night's sleep and a less painful Monday. Sending {{{Hugs}}} and prayers to all my peeps. πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Nov 09, 2015 8:30 PM

I hope you're doing well Amanda, and getting the rest your body needs.

Have a safe trip AlwayZ! πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Nov 10, 2015 3:42 AM

Flappys, I'm trying to rest, but my system sometimes won't let me get comfortable. Incision is open, but that doesn't mean less pain. I think I need to wait to go back to work until I have instructions from my gyn tomorrow morning. They made me promise that if it did get worse, that I would call back before then. Hoping he can just nick it and get everything cleaned out and not send me back to the hospital for admit. I was hoping after the last trip, that would have been it for follow-up after surgery. Lol. If that would have been the case, it would have been a first.

Nov 10, 2015 6:27 AM

Amanda, IF you can do it, take a very warm, wet washcloth and lay it over the area that is draining. It will draw it to the surface and perhaps it will let go and all that crap will just come out giving you some comfort so that you won't be so uncomfortable waiting for you appointment. (I am a horrible patient because one time that happened to me, I cut the stitch myself so that the thing could drain better) DON'T do that, I'm just saying that I did.. I didn't say it was a good thing to do...LOL!! Hang in there, your appointment will be here before you know it. It's raining and damp here today. What a nightmare for pain.
Thanks Flappsy, I'm sure I will..😊
Sending {{{Hugs}}}πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Nov 10, 2015 6:43 AM

Alwayz, I can't tolerate having anything even remotely on it at all. Hot water burns like fire already because the darn thing is open or at least it was when I checked it last night. Logrolling is the key to movement instead of sitting straight up already.

Nov 10, 2015 6:53 AM

I hear you.. I'm sorry that this had happened. When you go tomorrow he will open that stitch or a couple of them. (How far post op are you?) prepare yourself for him having to put pressure on the incision to "milk" the pus out of it. It's pretty much the only way they can get it out so it can heal. Better to prepare for something unpleasant and then if he doesn't do that it's a bonus. Likely he will have to though. I know that it's not a happy thought but just think of it this way, when he is done, it will settle down and feel much better. Lots of love, {{{Hugs}}} and prayers. πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»

Nov 10, 2015 7:06 AM

Alwayz, 14 days today. Thankfully there aren't any stitches to cut and it's already open. That's what scares me already, the milking part of it. Hopefully, I won't start with the flinching again, but i think if I have my music going, it's probably going to be a lot easier.

Nov 10, 2015 7:10 AM

Yes, bring your music and listen to it while he does what he has to do. You will probably flinch because that's your body's natural reaction to something hurting you. Just put something in your mind that brings you joy, listen to good music and imagine dancing around the house and remember to breathe deeply and slowly. All of those things will get you through it. πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Nov 10, 2015 7:31 AM

You are right Alwayz. I've been through this I don't know how many times before. Just a different environment for it. Of course, I would prefer to keep that environment a safe place at this point. Will just medicate before hand for anxiety.

Nov 10, 2015 7:52 AM

That's a good idea. Will your Mom or anyone else be with you? If so, she could go in with you and hold your hand. (My Mom did and I'm a lot older than you... LOL!!) πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»

Nov 10, 2015 8:07 AM

Alwayz, nope not this time. Just going to have to hold on to the edge of the table, grit my teeth and go with it already. Thankfully, I do have Dr. B tomorrow who is very easy on the eyes already(lol) so that does help. If it starts to get to much, I can just my eyes and go somewhere else.

Nov 10, 2015 8:12 AM

Just take the phone in with you and then you can email me and I'll help you through it. If that makes you feel better, I'm here for you. πŸ’•

Nov 10, 2015 8:15 AM

Unfortunately, I don't have a smart phone but a text message would be nice before hand. Will send you an email in a bit.

Nov 10, 2015 8:19 AM

Amanda, I will gladly give you my phone number and you can text with me. It will be better than email and then you won't be alone. You can even call if you need to.πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Nov 10, 2015 6:33 PM

I've never had to deal with an open wound, thank God! With my easy queasy if probably hurl on the doctor. 😰 I'll be thinking about you and praying for you. (((Hugs))) for comfort to get you through it all! πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Nov 10, 2015 6:40 PM

Flappys, I think the easy queasy might happen in the morning. Going to take a dose of phenergan before hand so that way I don't hurl everywhere. This is not going to be an easy appointment in the least bit. 1. Cause I absolutely hate going to the gyns office period. 2. I hate not knowing what exactly is going to happen(admitted, wound opened up further, IV antibiotics?) 3. I freaking hate MRSA with a passion, and this doesn't help matters. I get sick just even looking at the damn thing.
