Esophageal spasms, barretts and weird headache

Jan 24, 2015 1:37 AM

Anyone with esophageal spasms get a weird sickly headache only in the temples that coincides with the spasms... I am trying to figure out the connection and why it would possibly be happening?

Sorry, no. I get the headaches after taking the tessalon pearls for the spasms

What is that you take for the spasms Flappylady?

Benzonatate, its generic for Tessalon Pearls (Rx) for bronchospasms. I have them bad due to asthma and GERD.

You know, I could be mistaken, FlappsyLady, but my doctor gave me when I had both bronchitis and when I had pneumonia as a cough medicine. I recognized the brand name Tessalon Pearls. They didn't help my coughing fits though

They're helping only a little. I see a new asthma doc Tuesday.

Some years ago a had a really long and horrible cough and the pearls were the only thing that helped quiet the cough. Isn't it crazy how different meds affect our bodies differently?!?! The human body really never ceases to amaze me!

I think I've been using them so long they're not working as well.

Thanks for this conversation, Flappyslady81. With everything else going on with me I never thought about bronchspams. I do have a Dx of asthma & Gerd. Which Doctor do you suggest I see? I was going to make an appt with a ENT because I have a sore throat now. Nothing over counter is working

If go with the ENT because they can easily do a scope to your vocal chords in office. If they don't see anything ask about bronchoscope. Ilk be praying you get answers! 🙏🌼
