Being able to hear the vertebrae in your neck moving may indicate either Degenerative Disc Disease or a herniated disc.

It could be cervical stenosis. I have it and it is like that.

Almost all of your symptoms fit with both Degenerative Disc Disease and Cervical Stenosis. Cervical (neck) problems can cause headaches, pain in the base of your skull, tension in your left neck and shoulder, pain radiating to the ear and jaw, and hearing your cerivcal vertebrae move. I recommend that you ask your doctor for an MRI scan of your entire spine including cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.

Yeap An MRI will tell you about both.
