Faith in humanity lost

Apr 04, 2015 9:07 AM

I know in the grand scheme of things that getting your house egged in the middle of the night for absolutely no reason is minor but to me right now it's a big deal. I wont get home until 4pm, and by then it will be baked onto the window and side of the house. Egg is so hard to clean up anyways, but having to climb through a muddy flowerbed that still has some snow in it and the dead plants I didn't get a chance to remove before it snowed and clean above my head is going to make it much more interesting. It is so hard to complete the necessary daily tasks and this is above and beyond any thing I should have to do. My boyfriend and I haven't done anything to anyone so this egging is either random or they got the wrong house. And he is in worse shape than me so I am going to have to be the one to clean it. :( sorry for venting but I needed to get it out.

So sorry this happened to you guys. People (most likely kids in this case) just don't consider the big picture and work they are creating or that there might be extenuating circumstances like illness or disability that creates even more hardship. The just don't have any concept of the dominoe affect. I hope you reported it and maybe did a little research in the neighborhood so even if you don't find the culprits they might get the news and learn something about the larger effect.

My boyfriend said the person who threw the eggs got into a big suv and drove off, which says at least 16 years old and can no longer be considered a kid. I had to go to work this morning and haven't had time for anything. I'll tell my boyfriend to report it, but the cops won't look at it. They don't even look into stolen vehicles besides filing the paperwork.

I agree. Humanity is a lost art. I wish I lived nearby and I'd come wash it off for you. Truly sorry that happened.

No I know but having it reported is still a good idea. Who knows maybe there is a string of it happening or something in which case they might pay attention. If everyone just keeps it to themselves then no one ever knows and no chance they get caught. If a bunch of reports come in maybe they keep an eye out for a few days/nights. But even more if the word is spread about how much more it affected you guys than it might others maybe just maybe the culprit hears and someday gets the message that they never know what special hardships people might have. That said if the perpetrator is >16 your right it's probably less likely to get through to them but you never know. Sounds like an initiation of some sort maybe and depends on what the group is then if they might care or not. Any schools near you? Again Maybe the facts around a dinner table or from adviser during a club or house meeting will strike a chord. Probably won't get anyone owning up but maybe a teachable moment. Any connection with neighborhood kids or group that you could pay a few bucks to clean it off with the explanation of why it's so much more difficult for you maybe? At least those kids might learn something about the things you can't see. I know how tough it is to not be able to do these things easily and doubly so to tell people you can't but you are doing many people like yourself and like me a favor by educating people. I'm so sorry you and your boyfriend are dealing with this.

Unfortunately we don't actually know any kids or kids groups in our area. And it's easter weekend so there is no one around to help. There is an elementary school about a block away. The high school is probably a couple km away. There is a Jr high maybe 10 blocks from here.

Gotobef I am so sorry that y'all are having to deal with this. I agree you need to report this to the police, even though if they are anything like the police where I live nothing will be done about it. I understand how hard it is to come out publicly about your health limitations, but I think that I would call my local news station and tell them and also explain my limitations and that may bring out some volunteer groups to clean it up for y'all. It might also get to the ones who did this if your boy friend can give a discretion of the van and the estimated age, someone's parents may reconize their vehicle. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers

Gotobef, I am so sorry you have to deal with inconsiderate, naive, and immature pranks. I would report it too. Because of a rash of burglaries & auto thefts we're putting up some video cameras. My neighbor is a hunter and said he's using hunter's cameras. He said they're real cheap, take lots of photos, even in the dark, and no one knows he has them because of the size.
