I've gone from an active lifestyle to barely able to walk to the bathroom, I hurt everywhere, my back, arms, legs, and put on loads of weight this past year because I can't exercise. Dieting isn't enough. Any ideas or links to exercise videos that can help me?
Scrossy, I hear you loud and clear! I have put on a tremendous amount of weight since I have been unable to work. It is hard mentally and physically to get up and move around. I don't eat very much but what I do eat, I try to make sure is good for me. Greek yogurt, protein bars or shakes, lean white meat chicken with no skin, veggies, salad, etc. I usually only eat one meal a day which is not good for you because that in itself will slow down your metabolism. Ask your doctor what he/she recommends for you as far as any physical therapy you're able to do with your limitations. Maybe that will bring things along and help you get to a better place. Hang in there. You'll be in my prayers.🌻🙏🏻
If your "friends" ditched you, you'll have to accept that they couldn't have been very good friends to begin with. I'm glad that you found us as well. You'll fit right in here and you'll be surrounded by people who care and understand. Hang in there.. You got this.🙏🏻🌻
That seven minutes work or sounds like exactly what I need! I do house work in 7-10 minutes spurts because I don't want to overdo it.
And I've gained a bunch of weight since getting ill and being diagnosed with hypothyroidism. And also being dx-d gluten intolerant, which was making it impossible for my body to take in nutrients. I had a BMI of 16.5. Can't tell you how many times doctors asked if I was anorexic. I just said nope good genes. Lol. Now I feel better about having more meat on my bones as long as "so and so" isn't looking at me as if I'm a big fat loser. He hasn't got to say a word that hasn't already been said.
Anyway, I think that these are all great ideas. Oh and watch out for empty calories such as soft drinks. My doc wants me to go on a sugar free, carb free diet. . Hehehe I did okay with that for one five seconds. But I think once I am on my own it will be a little easier.
Kitty, Diets are amazingly hard to start, and harder to do for a long time. I'm on a low carb diet with mostly meat and vegetables, few grains, less sugar, few fruits etc. It's definitely hard though, and can be a bit blame sometimes when you're used to a diet with many flavors and colors l
Scrossy I understand what u mean. I'm like u I est very healthy in fact my doctors r alwyas so surprised I'm not a diabetic even though I'm grossly overweight. In fact I've had gastric bypass and my gastric doctor says I'm not eating enough That between my pain level stress and meds and not eating enough that my body has gone into starvation mode. So its holding on to food and calories as if there is famine happening. And actually none of my doctors has said anything about my weight and needing to loss any even though I know I need to and want to loss weight
Of i have to be on a special diet be cause I am so sensitive to so many foods (sa lot like an allergy but a chronic full body reaction). unfortunately I don't have a choice in cheating on my diet. It is hard as all get out to keep to that diet. So I do cheat on a few things but not gluten because that was what made me so sick I couldn't absorb nutrients. Plus gluten had made me sick for years.
But I wouldn't wish a diet like this on anyone lol. And I apologize if your think that I was insinuating that you needed to be on a diet. Not my intention. Best of luck!
Scrossy, you're not alone anymore. I get it too, as I've gained 40+ lbs in 5 years. I'm really trying to lose at least 10-15 but having a sweet token and being a stress easter... yeah, not helping. I'm trying to get all sweets out of the house except fruits. I did it once before but it took 2 months. Afterwards sweets made me nauseous. I'm also trying to walk, no matter how bad I hurt or tired I am, unless I'm sick. I may only do 10 minutes a day but every step counts. I bought a yoga chair exercise video but haven't watched it yet. I keep forgetting... Fog! Anyway, do what you can when you can. We are all different so you may have to try different things to find what works for you. Good luck & God bless! 🙏🌼
I feel like I'm the complete opposite here. I have been loosing weight. Like a lot and super fast. I lost around 55lbs in less than a month. So now I'm a few lbs over 100lbs. I wish I could put some input here but I don't have any idea :/
Flappy, I just have not been able to hold food or liquid down most days. I have to go see a another specialist because they can't figure out why. It's been close to 4 weeks that anything I eat it comes back up with in 10 minutes. I can sometimes hold liquids down but not all the time. So I've been loosing weight everyday basically its scary. They are doing a bunch of tests but they are saying if they can't figure it out soon I'll have to be admitted to the hospital so they can feed me with a tube threw my nose or something.
Jenna, I had that problem for years and then i wad tested for food intolerances with the ALCAT testing. Changed my life. Saved me. I was just a few pounds over 100 as well. I look at pictures of myself from then and cannot believe how I looked like a starved girl.
Not a lot of doctors do ALCAT testing, but if you do a Web search you can find doctors who do it. Food intolerance isn't a well known thing. But it is very much a true thing. I was blessed to find a doctor who believed in it he saved my life.
I will definitely look into that!! And I have just weighed myself about 10 minutes ago. I am 95 lbs!!! I haven't weighed this much in forever! I am calling the doctors Monday because they said if I get under 100 I need to be looked at. So I'll bring it up with them about food intolerance! Thank you!
Yes and if they now you off about the food intolerances please please look online and find someone who does it. It's a real phenomenon. It's kind of like fibromyalgia beefier it was accepted, a real thing but not many accepted it. I weighed. 107-110 lbs at 5'8", one i was dx'd with food intolerances, I gained a good 20 pounds in the first month. And then another 20 in the next month. I have never been more ccomfortable in my own skin since I've put on this weight.
I hope you find someone who can help you with that testing.
I am only 5' I look like a skeleton honestly. And I am noticeably dehydrated. So if nothing "bad" happens tonight like fainting or something I'm going to the doctors Monday. But if I do faint the nurse I just talked to at my doctors office says I need to go to the er hoping I can just wait till tomorrow!
Going to be thinking of you and praying that you don't have to go to the hospital. I want you to know that I wasn't trying ti diminish your problem by comparing it with mine. I never realized how bad i looked, all i saw was that i had a flat stomach lol. And most of my mom's side of the family are really skinny.
Okay I'm talking out of the side of my head.... Been a crazy night....
I hope you have someone to help you if you have to go to the hospital. But I hope you can make it until tomorrow!! Please let us know how you make it tonight.
Oh good! I mean i went to every socialist. My next step was a colonoscopy! Which the insurance company wasn't going ti convert because I wasn't 50. But once i got those test results, i pigs out on gotten in the form of fresh done and Debbie cakes. Hahaha I got so bloody sick. It's was a great idea though. I am not even tempted to eat most of the stuff that I'm intolerant of. But the fact is that it is known that most of the foods one is intolerant of we crave pretty badly.... More on that later. Brain is turning to mush.
JennaR, Kitty may be onto something with the food intolerances. But thanks to Kitty, I owe know about the ALCAT tests. I'm allergic to wheat and soy, but sadly there both in so many good products it's almost impossible to avoid, especially eating out. I'll be praying you won't pass out, and your doctors will find out what's happening, and that it's easily treatable. Hugs & prayers! Keep us posted. 🙏🌼
Ever since my accident, I became badly overweight. I basically had to lay down for 3 years straight with and anchor on my leg. It was heavy and had pins going through my leg. l don't eat a lot but I used to drink a lot of soda. That is how I gained mose of my weight. Thanks to those new Mio water flavorings, I now drink water most of the time but now I snack in the middle of the night. ha ha. The
Have y'all tried using Stevia for your sugar it is a natural sweetner from a plant. You can even bake with it. Instead of drinking soda waters I drink Sobe water Lifewater, they have a good variety of flavors to choose from and it is sweetner with Stevia. It takes a little time to get used to it. I have been off of carbinated drinks for 5 yrs now, I tried a sip of my sisters cola and it was so nasty. I use unfiltered honey to sweeten my hot teas that I drink. I weighed 265 lbs 2 yrs ago and I chose to have Gastric Vertical Sleeve Surgery, I now weigh 177. Still have a way to go about another 40 lbs. I wish that I had done it sooner,it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I was a up and down weight loss person for most of my adult life. Never was able to keep off what I struggled to loose off and would gain it back plus more. It was a visious cycle. The only thing I dislike is that I have to take so many vitimins and minerals for the rest of my life. But you get used to it,and don't even think about it.
