Feeling accomplished

Jun 04, 2016 11:40 PM

Well I think I overdid it again today, ok i know i did, but we finally got the portable air conditioner set up. Sounds like nothing, and in the old house it was nothing to set it up, but the new place has crank windows and the ac is designed for slider windows. So this morning i went shopping for plexiglass and parts to make a new screen. When i came home the boyfriend wanted to go for breakfast so we did. Then we went shopping and walked around the farmers market. Then we cut the big section of plexiglass to the proper width. Then we decided that we would build a frame to put the plexiglass in and keep the one that was in the window as the good screen, which was a good idea because we mangled it. Had to redo it a few times because it's a tall window so we needed a crossbar in the middle because it kept warping and was an inch smaller in the middle. Then we had to figure out how to get the end of the air conditioner vent in the next chunk of plexiglass. The first attempt didn't work at all and we broke a large chunk of it. So we finally cut 3 smaller peices and put them around the oval that hooks into the peice that sits in the slider thing. Then we taped it all together since I can't handle the glue. Then we put the new screen with the window and put it all together. Doesn't sound like a lot but it was a lot of work and it took all day.
Now it's bed time.

Nothing like ac especially here today when it was 99. Tomorrow will be the same. Ugh. We are staying inside. I do not handle heat well at all.

I couldn't imagine 99 that's 37 Celsius. Ouchie. I think i like living up north. I just know that my house is to hot at 75 which is around 24 Celsius and that's too damn hot for sleeping. But the ac only goes to 17 Celsius which is around 62 and I was still to hot last night. 17 is way better than 24 though.

Gotobef, you must be in Canada, measuring temperature in Celsius. I bought a house four years ago, in January when the snow was 4 feet deep. Imagine my surprise in the spring when I discovered that I had also purchased central AC. Love it.

I am in Canada. Edmonton Alberta. We are saving for central air right now, the portable will do for the next year or so.
That's a wonderful surprise to have under the snow.
