Feeling redundant

Apr 24, 2016 9:08 PM

I was diagnosed with chronic migraines on Feb 22 and have been on amitriltyline since a week before that for migraine prevention. I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy as well on Mar 4. When I saw my GP on Mar 15 she gave me a lab req to test for the last few possible underlying causes of the small fiber neuropathy.

It seems as though the amitriptyline has begun decreasing in its effectiveness. I dropped to 2-3 migraines per week about 2 months ago. Now in the last week I've had migraines 6/7 days. My hands and feet are getting much worse. They burn and get severe pain again. I made an appointment with my PCP. I feel stupid going. I mean they've already given me stuff to help me. I feel very redundant. "The same stuff is still going on. Help me. Again." Ugh.

Obviously it has changed. If you do not talk to you doctor they cant change your meds. Not all meds work tge same for all.

Hi, I kept a journal, use this app to record everything, then show the doc. It will help :)

Cdngirl, please don't feel stupid or redundant. It seems something has changed. I've had migraines since 1995. I began having a different pattern over a year ago. Someone here mentioned the symptoms sounded like cervicogenic headaches. I went to my doc and it is, but they are triggering migraines. As of last week I know that changes in my cervical discs are the cause. As a college professor once said, "The only dumb question is one not asked.". I wouldn't have known if I hadn't gone back to the doc and asked. Teepainter may be right about your meds needing to be changed. Document every symptom, no matter how trivial you think it is. Hugs & prayers you'll get better control of the migraines! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Thank you for the support all :) I went and saw my doctor yesterday. She was concerned that my migraines are back with as much frequency as before. She was also concerned that my hands are worse. She prescribed me a different medication (Lyrica) to take as well as amitriptyline.

I'm so glad to hear this. And I pray this treatment plan will work. If things change let your doc know asap. Hugs!! 🙂💕🙏🌼
