Feeling tight

Nov 03, 2015 4:24 AM

Hi all, I'm wanting to know if anyone experiences this also.
My throat has been feeling tight and then eventually down the centre of chest.
I've had the tight throat before and comes and goes.
Would love to hear from anyone.

Are you on any new medication? That kind of sounds like the kind of allergic reaction I have to fibro medications.

If its not a medication it could be a food and the reason why it might be coming and going. I recommend you consult your doc about it. :)

Best wishes

Hi Linda0000,
Thanks so much for replying. Well I'm not on any meds so yes it could be food but my diet doesn't really change as I only really eat very well. I do have thyroid antibodies but for now my doc says my thyroid is ok.
I think I will though go and get this checked out.
Thanks heaps xx

Hi positivity. . Always good to be able to rule stuff out. I was just doing some quick reading lol It could also be muscle spasms which could be cause by any number of things.. including your anxiety and even the spine. I hope someone else might be able to offer some first hand insight to assist. :)

Hope you have a nice day.
Linda

Positivity76, I have had those exact symptoms. The main time I suffer them is when my anxiety is elevated. Sometimes it also happens when I'm having a flare of Costochondritis (but then again, my anxiety level creeps up when that happens because it's chest pain involved). I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease years ago and my thyroid was removed so now I'm actually severely hypothyroid. I take levothyroxine but have been forgetting it and my numbers have plummeted. That caused anxiety too!! I hope that your doctor finds the cause of your symptoms. I know firsthand how very uncomfortable that can be. I wish you the best of luck and am sending {{{Hugs}}} and prayers your way.🌻🙏🏻

I agree with alwayz, it sounds like chostocondritis. I have those same type of symptoms also when mine acts up. Talk to your Dr. about it.

Positivity76, do you have GERD/acid reflux? Have you ever had an endoscopy done? Twice I've had that happen, with the tightening & narrowing feeling. But I was also having a cough and hiccups. I was also having a sensations of my food and meds getting stuck going down (right at the bottom of the neck). The doc did an endoscopy both times, and both times I had an esophageal structure, which he dilated with a balloon. My husband just went through the same symptoms and treatment last month. But his food felt like it wasn't going past the bottom of the esophagus into the stomach. Hopefully you can figure o out what you're may be with everyone's suggestions. Good luck and hope you feel better soon. Hugs & a prayer! 🙏🌼

Thanks so much to everyone for your excellent advice and thoughts.
I haven't brought it up to my doctor but I too think I have costroconditis and when it flares up my throat goes tight. I also last nigh and in the afternoon had hiccups and I don't get them very often.
Today my throat is still a little tight but bare able also my chest is still sensitive.
I really hope to get to the bottom of it soon. Thanks all xx

It could be Costochondritis and a GI stricture. Good luck and best wishes on getting to the root of the problem! 🙏🌼

Flappsy, I never thought of esophageal structure. I get that feeling of food or my meds sitting at the bottom of my neck. It's a strange feeling. Last endoscopy I had, they said I was 4th out of 6 on the chart of damage and I had to keep an eye on it so I don't develop Barrett's Esophogus. Scary.. Perhaps I should go to my gastro and schedule an endoscopy and get it checked just to be sure. Thanks for that info, Flaoosy!! You're always so very helpful.💕🙏🏻🌻

You're welcome. I had an endoscopy with balloon stretching last year and this year. I'm feeling like my food just sits at the bottom of the ribs. Sometimes I turn nauseated. I'm afraid they're going to have to put a stent in my esophagus like he said. 🙏🌼

I have those symptoms when I am getting a panic attack. I hope you feel better and get I figured out soon.

Flappsy, I hope and pray for you that that is not the case. I have the same feeling that the food is sitting at the base of my neck and I keep swallowing and it feels like I have a lump in my throat that won't go down or come up. My last endoscopy showed that I was in the verge of Barrett's Esophogus. They say it's really inevitable at this point. I hope not but who knows. Sending you {{{Hugs}}}, prayers and best wishes that they can find another way to repair the damage.💕🙏🏻🌻😊
