Hello all. I have had the experience where I was on 50mcg fentanyl patch and changing it every 3 days and all the sudden honestly I went into a pain episode that lasted for I don't know about a week and after that the patch was completely ineffective. Now the issue is that the maine (usa) laws are changing and there's going to be a limit as to how much of a an opiate people can be on. I'm just wondering if this has happenned to anybody else as far as the fentanyl patch pooping out, and what did you all do? I have an appointment with my doctor this afternoon and am seriously considering getting off of the opiates because I'm also on a 10mg oxycodone 4 times a day as needed but it's completely ineffective.
If it's not helping anymore, I would get off it rather than go higher, because the likelihood is that the same thing will happen with a higher dose. It may be that Fentanyl is just not the right type of medication for you. Everyone takes to meds differently.
The strange thing is is that for 3 years I was probably a daily pain of about I don't know maybe a 2 to 5 but mostly down to the twos and threes with the fentanyl patch first I started at 25 then had to increase two years later to the 50 which I was on for 1 yr until it pooped out.
Hi sweetie 🌹 If u can get off the fentanyl, i would. Yes its the strongest. Im physically dependant on fentanyl now... my patches have always lasted only 24-36hrs... but that sounds like u hit withdrawal... forgive me but did u remember to change ur patch just before that week.... im not saying u did... but i do know, i can forget, so i write the next change on my patch with a perm marker... cos i have made occational errors... we ar human after all... and a fentanyl crash hurts like hell! At 50mcg/hr release... u should ween off it really. My opioid calculator app tells me 50mcg/hr patch is equal to 150mg of morphine a day! So be careful...only use fentanyl if u really have to 🤗
