That's a great question that I would love to know the answer to. I am going to the doctor and with the change of season and it being flu time, I don't know if I want to get one. I've never gotten one before and I'm 50. I've had pneumonia 4 times and don't want to get it again. I hope your flare settles down soon. I wish you a peaceful day with less pain.🌻🙏🏻
I can't speak for others. But in regards to me personally? I get a flu shot every year for the last 4. Only, due to the fact that when I get I end up hospitalized. But I due have a flare up with Fibro every time I get a Flu shot. I guess, individually? One I guess would have to weigh the benefits vs the negative. Good Luck!! Xo's SassyPants
Sadly, I myself never get flu shots due to being intolerant to many many things. Being intolerant to so much means lots of flare ups. Pkus, I am a Celiac. I'm not sure what to tell you, but maybe say something to your doctor. You might just be able to work through your side effects. Drink plenty of water.
Luvsdragracing, I got my flu shot yesterday about 7 pm, so I'm not even in 24 hours yet. I get them every year due to being asthmatic and a history of bronchitis. I've been getting the flu shot 24 years. I've yet to have but one bout of the actual flu (live vaccine), and in the past 7-8 years it hasn't flared up my fibro. I'll let you know if things change. I hope you get to feeling better soon! 🙏🙏🌼
Sorry, I can't help you there. I don't have fibro and if I take the flu shot you mine as well have paramedics and a Doctor standing by because it puts me in the hospital because I am highly allergic. Same with my babies and their father. Hope and pray you feel better!
Over the years I have had to listen to the doctor (My GP), that the vaccine is a dead virus which names no sense. I've had doctors tell me it's dead and others say alive. At any rate, let me know what happens. I wish you the best of luck!! The universe, nsqq
I recently got my flu shot and wound up with the flu two days later. The one reason I got it is because my two year old has a low immune system and I don't want her getting sick if I get sick. Killed my back because I was either laying on the couch or crouch over the toilet. Last year I got one and the nurse hit a muscle. Couldn't move my arm for over a month
I had flu jab when it first came out before diagnosis of fibro & for many mths felt very ill anyway i was having skin patch test done & showed im allergic to thiermersol its a preservative so i called gp & asked if they do thiermeraol free jabs yes he said had that again felt rough!! On my facebook yesterday on a fibro page was flu jab but it said they contain mercury how truw that isi dont know but im defo NOT having a jab didnt last yr either x
Luvsdragracing, I had my shot last Thursday, as did my hubby. We both had shore arms for 3-4 days. He had a stomach issue 3 days in, and I started with sinus congestion and pain on day 4. He's better but I'm not. I see my pcp today so I'm going to talk to him about it. Last year I felt like my hubby with the stomach symptoms and chills. I don't know, maybe the Plaquenil for my sjogrens is keeping me from flaring; it's reduced my fibro flares and daily pain levels. I'm also taking a lot of vitamins; multivitamin, D3, Iron, magnesium. I hope you'll feel much better soon! 🙏🌼
Thank you for this thread! I was diagnosed with Fibro 6 years ago and one physician I saw who specializes in Fibro and autoimmune cases thought it was significant that I had my first Fibromyalgia attack very shortly after I got a flu shot. He told me I should never get another one. I have not gotten one since and after reading these replies I WILL NOT be getting one. THANK YOU for this topic!!!
Had mine on Monday and promptly fell asleep in the afternoon. My arms been really painful and since then I've been a zombie and can't function. Whole body is burning and aching. If that's a flare then maybe. Glad hubby is making dinner.
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia since 2002 amongst other stuff and I never got the flu shot until last year and this year and it made me feel horrible! !! I felt like someone had ran me over a bunch of times and kicked and stomped me to death plus felt worse than what I felt with the actual flu. And my arm was extremely sore. I'm not getting them anymore.
I don't get the shots, I get sick anyway, but family members have had extreme reactions to shots, and my aunt had to be hospitalized (for a week or so) following a vaccine, so my family is very wary of shots. I still get sick, but hey, at least it's whatever is going around, and I can guess at my reaction. That's my family though.
