I read today fibromyalgia can be caused by over exposure of arteficial light. As we live in a modern world full of gadgets phones etc we apparently don't wind down before bed and looking at your phone or tv before bed sends the wrong signals to the body and disturbs your body clock which then disturbs your sleep which then causes problems to the muskoskeltan..... What do you guys think on this? I think am a victim of this as I do watch tv in bed an my phone is glued to my hand!! I haven't practised sleep hygein but I will try it and see if my sleep is improved (which I'm sure it will) and if this benefits my body
I've often wondered about this. A few years ago I spent a week sleeping outside (no tent!) in rural Montana. It was pitch black at night. No artificial anything. I've never slept so well! There may be something to this. The technology of the human body has no reason to be compatible with the technology and modified food of our modern world. Why would our brains know how to process artificial light?
I started practicing better sleep hygiene two years ago so I could come off Ambien, which I'd become dependent on. I allow one hour downtime without TV, just relaxing and listening to relaxing music. I've slept much better.
I'm not sure about the artificial lights causing fibro. I'm more inclined to wonder if it's still the preprocessed foods and drinks we ingest, along with lifestyle changes. There's lot more unhealthy and chronically ill people than there were in my childhood. And back then our foods came from gardens everywhere and were frozen or canned at home. There were very few fast food restaurants, and zero microwaves. Heck, our first sir conditioner was a window unit in my grandparents room, while the rest of us slept with windows and doors open for a breeze. And playtime was outside in the yard playing ball, chase, hopscotch, freeze-tag, etc; we didn't have gadgets in hand. We were considered lucky to own a black and white TV. Maybe computer progress has in general made us too dependent on it and we are too unmotivated to get up and move. It's proven exercises release endorphins that help block pain, especially in fibromyalgia. When I can't walk (like now, surgery recuperation) I can tell a difference in my fibro pain. Who really knows where any illness starts. All we can focus on is doing the best we can to be as healthy as we can. And some days will be better than others. 🙂💕🙏🌸
Ive just read that article Taraisis it was really interesting!!! It makes me think should I give up my iPhone? But if I do I'll loose all photos I can take speaking with family from far away, but health is more important. Definitely something I would consider esp getting an alarm clock and puting my iPhone away and turning off all wifi at night time
FatiguedFighter Wow if you slept better than artificial light must be a cause of fatigue. I think your both right FlappysLadys81 food has an impact too, all the processed foods with chemicals in, you don't know what your eating half the time. Sounds like we should all escape to the wilderness with no technology an live off the land 😄😄 But I've read that the government spray the veg an fruit crops with chemicals too from a plane ☹️
I get migraine from florescent and any other lighting other than the old bulbs. Also I have tried the remove all electronic from the bedroom and it does cut the noise down in my head. It helps to relax that way.
