Are you sure that the knee pain is from your Fibromyalgia? Have you had any x-rays or MRI scans of the knee?
If not, you may want to think about getting an X-ray or MRI scan to rule out the possibility of Osteoarthritis (OA).
I don't have Fibromyalgia, so I can't tell you if a knee brace would help you. I do have OA in my left knee, and a patellar knee brace does help to stabilize my knee, which reduces the pain since my knee is so unstable without the brace.
What type of pain are you experiencing. I’ve been having pain behind my knees ( like a tendinitis) it on the inside of my knees. Is this similar to what you are experiencing? I have a knee brace that does help to support my knee. Like AmbrrLyn I would suggest getting a professional medical opinion and ct or mri to rule out any other possible problems.
Hi Rach, I have been experiencing the same problem with my knee and thought it was connected to my fibromyalgia and have struggled on for over 12 months with it. However my GP has told me that actually he thinks it's a torn/damaged medial ligament and has sent me for a urgent MRI of it. Please see a Dr about it, good luck keep me posted! Hayley 🌈
Kew2012, wow that's what an ER doctor thought my problem was. He thought that I either tore my medial collateral ligament (MCL) or anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). It wasn't until my MRI was reviewed by an orthopedic surgeon that I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis at age 14.
Rach6915: A knee brace may help the pain by stabilizing your knee, but it's only a short-term solution. It's important that you see a doctor and get imaging tests done because it could be a number of different problems or it may just be your Fibromyalgia, but it's better to know for sure.
I have knee pain from time to time. I have severe fibro and have seen a doctor for my knee. I get sharp pain in and around my knee cap and outer part of leg. Plus behind it in the bend of leg. Makes me fall. It is part of fibro and is probably immflamation.
