I'm sorry for your diagnosis but you are in the right place. Most of us also have fibromyalgia so we understand exactly what you are going thru. A lot of us also have other health issues along with fibromyalgia. Like me for instance, I have Sjorgren's syndrome, lupus, fibromyalgia, 3 herniated disk in my back, osteoarthritis, fibroid tumors, ptsd, anxiety, and depression. And I have no health insurance so a lot of my problems are not being treated. I joined this group because you can vent or ask questions or crack jokes. We are all people dealing with pain and we all try to be there for each other. Again I'm sorry for your diagnosis and trust me the people on here are always ready to listen so don't be afraid to ask questions if needed or talk about whatever is on your mind. You will be in my prayers.
Welcome @myhouse 🌸 i am sorry that you have been diagnosed with FM. You are in the right place for support, understanding and expression.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 4 years ago and I remember like it was yesterday. You pray so hard just to get an answer and then you get this bomb dropped!
I felt totally alone. My bf at the time didn't understand and my family thought I was a hypochondriac. I fell into a deep depression and I also realised I was addicted to codeine.
Here are some things i wish someone had told me:
1.You are not alone! 2.Yes you have Fibro but you have a choice - you can let it control you OR you can learn to control it. 3. Not every day will be easy but there will be good days. Enjoy them and cherish them. 4. Make yourself a priority. Always! 5. Not everyone will understand what you are going through and that's ok. Accept it. 6. Yes it isn't fair that you have this but not everyone is a fighter like you 7. Be patient with yourself, be patient with your body and live in the present moment. 8. Your goals may need to change but that's ok. This is a new journey. 9. You are not your pain. 10. Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is a whisper at the end of the day saying "I'll try again tomorrow."
I'm sorry 😐 for what you are going through. I just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia last month. I too was relieved 😌 to get a diagnosis but then the reality sunk in that this is going to be a lifelong condition. I watched what my mother went through since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia in the 90's. The exhaustion, pain, and disability she has endured and I'm terrified I will too. But keep your head up. There are many new treatments and meditation available. And supportive people like everyone on this app. It's not over yet. I recommend learning all you can about fibromyalgia and the treatment options available to you. It can be overwhelming and it's natural to go through a grieving process. If you need to talk to someone or have questions this is a great 👍 app to use.
