I've been doing my research on meds that help fibromyalgia symptoms as I've been on gabapentin (neurontin) for around 3 years and just keep getting worse. I've had my doctors finally agree to change me over to pregabalin (lyrica) after reading that it can be a lot more effective for fibromyalgia.... what are other people's opinions on both meds if you've tried them please?
I think I'd rather be a fat 24 year old than a crippled 24 year old, so I will definitely keep nagging my GP! They've started my dose far lower than the recommended start dose so I will be going back to speak about that. Within all my research I've found that the pregabalin is a lot more expensive which is possibly why they've kept me in the dark about them all these years 😡
I've tried both and neither worked for me, I even tried carbomezapine which is another med they give for fibro and nerve pain. All 3 of those can make you gain weight, they increase your appetite and can make you crave sweet things which is a problem when you already like sweet things!!!
I am on both. The lyrics does not help my neuropathy & neurontin does not help the al over achy pain so I take both. Lyrica's help is short lived. I've increased the dose twice with great pain control which fissals out after 3 months. Dont know if i want to keep increasing.
Painedlady none of the gabapentine family of meds worked for me, they all made me sleepy to the point I couldn't function which stressed me out so made my pain worse!!! Amitriptyline seems to help me more along with slow release morphine. My Dr added duloxitine but I'm not it's helped much with both the pain and the anxiety but it's not made me worse 🤔
