A positive experience with an understanding and caring Dr. I was assessed from head to toe physically and psychologically. I had my chronic pain thoroughly explained and how it will be treated and managed. I felt listened to and have a plan to move forward. I am starting with a daily walk, pacing, nerve nutrients such as vitamin C and Q10, panadol osteo, Endep, tramadol and melatonin. Review in 4 weeks. In 8 weeks I will have specialist Physio for my back in preparation for general anaesthetic for facet joint injections from my neck down to T4 and ultrasound to target the nerves and follow up with Physio again.
The dr said staying calm and reducing stress is vital for managing chronic pain. Mindfulness, relaxation and dealing with stress and sleep reduces pain so I'm to continue with psychologist and was recommended the Buddyfy app.
Even tho there is nerve damage and damaged vertebrae he said the brain can learn to calm down its response and I'm going to give it a red hot go. I also have to chat to my regular Physio about stopping clinical Pilates until I am walking/pacing with ease. Cardio is out as well until I have mastered non sweaty exercises and stretches.
He also said no to panadeine, codeine or morphine pain meds but norspan patch is ok. I don't use any of those anyway.
So there we are. Daily walk, pacing, relax, don't blame others, don't get angry, nourish myself with healthy food and vitamins, take medication, do something fun and nice everyday, don't dwell or obsess over pain, do specialist Physio and get jabbed with cortisone. An 8 week plan for now. Sounds ok to me 👍
