Does that mean that people should not log their pain to look for patterns because it forces one to think about the pain? What are other good ways to distract you from pain - is it using your phone or just completely removing all technology?
BackFog what I do is yes I log my pain and spend a little bit of time looking at it to see patterns but that's mainly when I'm with my GP. I come on here and look at people's posts to see if I have anything that I can offer advice on and to post pictures of stuff I've made or coloured and I love looking at what everyone else makes as well....there really are some truly amazing arts and crafty people on here. I also spend time colouring in adult colouring books, make basic jewellery and make cards. I also play games on my phone, I like word games and puzzle games which I've been told some of them can help my memory....or at least stop it from getting worse! Some people switch off all technology when they go to bed, it helps their sleep but I've found it doesn't make a difference to me plus my phone is my alarm clock. Others have said cutting out certain foods has helped cut their pain as well, I'm thinking of trying this but unfortunately my budget doesn't cover how much more this will cost....why is the healthy stuff soo much more expensive? I've add a lot more fruit and veg and fresh meat but there's still more I could cut out and add but that costs more which is difficult on a tight budget with 2 growing kids!
It's more expensive here too. Here they say to go around the outside circle of food. Inside the circle is processed food. Buying for 1 person is more we expensive too. Food gets wasted. Veggies come in bunches not 1. I can't eat all that. I buy frozen veggies so I can break it into 1 serving. Meat I freeze and break into 1 serving. Some I can't though. Food is expensive. We have food pantries here where we can get food for free. But it is in family servings and processed food. Can't win.
I cook in big batches then freeze in portions we can actually use. This works great for several reasons one being on higher pain days I just pull something good and healthy from the freezer. I invested in a food saver vacume packer because it makes me angry to have something get freezer burn. I also freeze in mason jars. For things that I always use like chopped onion I bring out the food processor and chop a bunch at a time and throw it in baggies in my freezer. If you are cooking with onion/garlic/celery/ carrots it does not matter if it has been frozen. I have had 2 shoulder reconstructions on the same shoulder so chopping kills me.
Lmb I've started doing that but it doesn't always work out as I cook a big batch serve up dinner then come back to make another dish for the next night or to freeze it and it's gone....the kids have enjoyed dinner soo much that they've had extra helpings thinking I wouldn't notice!!!! 😨😲😨 lol Now I tell them to leave it alone then they pull the big eyes and that they're growing kids who need to keep their strength up and I can't refuse them.....I'm a soft touch where they're concerned!!!! 😂
