Foot Drop & Nerve Avulsion

Sep 21, 2016 1:03 AM

So I had a nasty car accident October 17, 2015 where even with my seatbelt I got ejected out of my back window. I had partial nerve avulsion which has left me with drop foot in my left foot but I still have planter-flexion. I take 1200mg Gabapentin 3x daily, elavil 25 mg, and Percocet when needed. For a months my neuropathy had been going down from screaming in the fetal position to just very uncomfortable until Percocet kicks in. The pain is always at night and sporadically in the afternoon or morning. I haven't changed anything but dieting very heathy now(veggies, lean meat, quinoa ect..). My gym time has not been any more intense then it's always been. The pain has now started to climb back towards the 10. Has anyone had any exercises, different meds, or tips on relieving the pain? I'd love to hear input.

Do you have any swelling, like fluid retention? If so you might want to try some compression socks. Have you tried running pain ointment on your legs before bed? I use voltaren gel. And on nights my RSL & hypnogogic jerks are bad I take a muscle relaxer. Hugs love and prayers you can find relief soon! 🙂💕🙏🌸

Yeah I've always had swellIng in my foot and ankle but I can't tell if it's just healing or if in walking on it badly all day since I can't feel it. Maybe it's water retention. I've tried Muy Tai Oil but it doesn't work on me anywhere. I actually used to take baclplophen for my foot and leg cramps which worked wonders. It's possible try have come back and I need to start back up. I'm in the process of starting up acupuncture to see if it will help with the pain. Thank you for the input. I hope your pain resides as well. Prays, love, and good vibes your way🙏🏽❤️ 🙌🏽.

I hope the acupuncture helps. I have vein reflux in one leg, so I had to stop all table salt and wear compression hose. I also have pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS) that amounts to varicose veins in the pelvis, and it causes pain & swelling in the legs. So removing added salt from my diet was a must. On the positive side, my blood level cholesterol and BP is lower. 🙂💕🙏🌸

Could you have crps?

What are hynogogic jerks? Maybe what I have? Not restless legs, not really clonus, but jerks like that with sitting or trying to sleep?

It's where your muscles jerk suddenly, usually as you are completely relaxed and/or falling asleep. And it wakes you.

With the hypnogogic jerks, etc I've found that magnesium seems to help alleviate some of the discomfort. That may be an option for you to try OTC.

When I am especially tired from pain and emotional strain I find the hypnogic jerks are extremely harsh.. I've already thrown my phone across the room from it. There's no control either. It's not a happy biproduct of all the other shit I've got going on... {{{Hugs}}}💕
