Foot pain

Apr 11, 2019 7:30 PM

Hello! I am new here, a friend showed me this app and I like how you can track what's going on. I was going to attempt this manually to see if I can spot any trends until I was shown this. I have been dealing with this since October and no one can really tell me for sure what's going on.

I have sever pain in my feet, mostly my right, constantly to the point of not being able to walk or even flinch my toes without fear of it painfully spasming out of control. It's mostly on my inner side of the foot where the arach is and the soft tissue. It's so sharp and cringing, like a Charlie horse but 10000x worse to the point I wish I would pass out. My leg also gets super tights and tense and I feel like my right side from the waste down goes haywire. There is nothing that will make it better and I just hope for it to go away but it can last for days, weeks and has lasted for months before. I can no longer walk the same, my whole life has changed drastically in a split second. Literally. Any one else have this in common? They say it's not arthritis and that it is planters fasciitis and naroma but the treatments do not help and the symptoms are not consistent.

Bird, welcome to the community! I've had problems with both plantar fasciitis & Morton's neuroma in my right foot for years. It started after I had a broken sesamoid bone removed behind the big toe in 2007. But the pain &/or spasms were not in my legs or higher up from those problems. I also get calf cramping in both legs, usually worse the longer I'm on my feet. I have fibromyalgia & vein reflux that my doctors feel are the cause of these leg cramps, pain in the muscles, & swelling. Recently a doctor found 2 lipomas that were adding to the swelling and compressing on nerves. She removed them and the pain is much better now, at least in that area. These are my experiences and I don't know if any of it is helpful to you. The lipomas were found with an MRI or CT, I can't remember. What types of tests have they done on your legs and feet? I can tell you that my fibro can and does cause neuropathy and knots in muscles.

Have you ever tried Epson salts baths? Sometimes an otc pain ointment helps my muscles and Arch foot pain. Warm compresses of moist heat might also help with the plantar fasciitis, and very gentle massages. I purchased a foot stretching device that also helps (Amazon). Have you tried some potassium or magnesium supplements (has your doctor checked to see if you're low in these?).

Sending you hugs love & prayers that you will soon find the cause as well as ways to relieve your symptoms! ๐Ÿ™‚โค๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒผ

Have you tried some one the counter potassium supplements ? Also what about a Epsom salt bath 5 or 6 cups per bath or even just soak your foot in a large bowl or bucket of very warm Epsom salt water. You need to soak for at least 40 minutes. 20 minutes to pill out toxins snd 30 minutes to absorb the good magnesium. Magnesium supplements do not work for me in the same way.

I was telling okish until a snow storm hit last Tuesday. Since then I haven't been able to walk. It's mostly in my toes and leg lately. Constant cramping and twitching with pain. I do use Epson salt soaks, I have done potassium but my levels came back normal when I had my blood work done. My muscles in my leg and ankle have been getting very swollen and hard causing cramping and making it hard to move around. I have had cortisone shot in my foot by my toes and that hurt and did not really feel any better.

Bird, does the swelling hardness in your legs happen late in the day? Could it be fluid buildup, edema? I have that from vein reflux in my lower legs, and the swelling occurs after being on my feet any extended time or in the early evening (generally goes away overnight while sleeping). It can be very painful and has at times caused cramping feelings. I was placed in compression stockings to help reduce the swelling and help pump the blood back up my legs.

It does relax over night if I'm able to sleep. But is very quick to return. I have tried compressions add they hurt my feet more. I use rock tape or kt tape to help it, my chiro says I get edema build up

I can't wear the knee high compression socks and use thigh highs instead. What strength were the ones you tried (15 mmHg, 20mmHg, 30... Etc)? Maybe you could try the lightest weight strength and try thigh highs?

Apr 24, 2019 12:43 PM

I tried both toeless and closed toe thigh highs. Toeless just had me ending up with purple toes and more pain than it was worth. I started with the lowest compression, 7-15 pounds and wore them until I got used to them then bumped up to 15-20 pounds. I canโ€™t even get the next up from there but 15 to 20 does keep the swelling down and although it bothers me with the hypersensitivity, the good outcweighs the bad. Itโ€™s something worth thinking about. Also I put my hose on when I get out of bed. Otherwise the swelling starts and itโ€™s too hard to put the hose one.
Iโ€™ve always wanted to try the kinetic tape.

I'm sorry none of this works. Maybe the tape would be worth trying.

I have had similar pain in my left foot for 11 years. Originally it was diagnosed as a fracture through x ray. Later doctors said it was planter facsciatis. Over the years I tried pretty much everything but nothing helped. I saw an Orthopedic Surgeon in 2013 who did an MRI and I finally received a diagnosis of an Accessory Navicular Bone. The only real treatment is surgery but that is only done very rarely. The one thing that does help when the pain gets bad is to use an Air cast. I would suggest getting an MRI done and seeing a specialist.
