Forgetting meds

Aug 07, 2014 9:13 AM

i forgot to take my meds not last night but the night before. usually I'm really good about it but I fell asleep 5 hours early and didn't remember when I woke up in the middle if the night. geeze I'm paying for it now, spent all night with the works - cramps, muscle spasms, charlie horses, sciatica, brain zaps, headache. all the things. makes me remember why I'm on the dang things to begin with but ughhhh miserable night. anyone else get knocked in their butt after they forget the majority of their meds like I do? and seriously, ssri caused serotonin withdraws (what causes brain zaps) are the worst. even the chemo was better than that. sadly they actually /help/ unlike the nicer meds. the things we put up with for the sake of pain relief.

I thought I was the only one who got Charlie horse. Mine is up the left side of my back, 24/7. Do you know what causes it? Is it the sciatica? What is ssri?

Selecitve Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor. It's a type of antidepressant, a way that they work in the brain, by preventing seratonin from being quickly reabsorbed by neurons.

I use my iPhone alarm with names of which meds to take, as I am on so many. found it useful and wakes me as if I miss even one dose of them I suffer for days. maybe something like that might be worth a try for you?

Hi Noche. I agree with TKenny about the iPhone alarms. There are a couple of really super apps that remind you to take your pills. They let you set as many alarms as you need. I just checked the App Store and there are some new ones that look very good and work on iPad too. Some even do it with voice to make your entries. Good if your fingers are achy and tired. I haven't checked the Google App or the Windows Phone or the Kindle App Store but most app developers make them for all OS platforms. Hope that helps. I know not everyone has a smartphone or tablet. If not, there are pill alarm watches now. Check with your Pharmacist. Good luck!

Did you know that CatchMyPain also has meds alarms, on the smartphone version? With that you can record when you took it and see when you forgot what...
