I am sorry you have a migraine Flappy. I hope you get feeling better soon. I think I had a migraine once. I thought my head was going to explode and then I was going to puke. And I have a phobia against throwing up. So I went to the emergency room. I don't know if everybody would do that. But I go to the emergency room when ever I am more than slightly nauseous. I will never risk throwing up. If that is anything of what you feel like, then I am truly sorry. No one should have to go through that. If it feels worse, then I'm more sorry. Whatever the case, what is important to me is that you start to feel better soon. That is what I hope for. Take care and I hope that you feel better real soon. Best wishes to you.
Thank you profiler. Its lessened some and at least didn't make it to the level of nausea. The lights were bothering me so I kept the curtains closed. I have gone to the ER 3x in my life for migraines and I try to nip them in the bud before they get there again. I hate throwing up and actually can't anymore, ever since they intubated me for the Ileus in 2010. But it tries and hurts my throat horribly. Thanks again, and hope you have a restful night.
I had never had migraines til about 4 months ago. I have had my deal of sinus headaches but migraines are just horrid. I never really understood the pain people talked about until my first one. Hope yours goes away soon.
I have lots of migraines. Before my pain treatments, it was 20-25 days a month. Now, it's better. It was like going from bad to worse.
If cold and heat on your head don't work... One doctor told me to put ice on my head and put my feet in hot water.
The light from a computer or tablet is very blue and is probably not helping.
An anti inflammatory helps me (I can't take them any more because of kidney damage) not because it helps the migraine, but because the migraine causes its own tension and inflammation.
Honestly, if I can't get it and it lasts longer than 72 hours, I have gone to the ER. I have a list from my neuro of meds. The ones they give are not that helpful. One of them is a large dose of decadron.
There's some relationship between migraines and histamines. I've heard people wonder why they're getting benedryl, but it does help (though not in an immediate way). I used to take cyproheptadine all the time.
Thank you JayS77 & StarryNight, I am much better this morning. I haven't put on my nitroglycerin patch yet, so if it happens again I'll know its from that. I will have to also try the ice/head & warm water/feet method. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.☺
FlappsyLady, I'm so sorry you had a bad night with a wicked migraine. I took my older sister to her chemo appointment today so I had no meds from yesterday late afternoon, early evening. I hope that you can relax and the migraine goes away!!
