I've gain 50 pounds in less than 6 month! Been taking gabapentin for that time and now I know why I gain weight, even in a diet... I have fibromyalgia and fatigue syndrome and this medicine is not helping any recommendations ? I'm 34 years old and have 4 kids and and amazing supporting husband! But being in constantly pain is driving me crazy!!!
I've gained a lot of weight also I addressed it with my Dr before hand and they felt the benefits outweigh the weight gain. Although now I'm disagree.. I'm gonna have to see what else can be done. Plus my pain and discomfort has nkt been all the muxh improved
The medicine is not cheap and the doctors follow up is draining my bank! I started this week cat nail medicine I'll see how it goes and if it helps with pain and loosing weight!!! Suppose to be natural
I've been taking gabapentin for about six months and I noticed that it made me gain weight! I am eating a lot less than what I use too and walking with my girls and just continue to gain weight. I'm not sure is this is also making me swell all the time. I will. Definitely ask the doctor to change the medication to me as soon as possible
Oh no I have enough weight gain from other medicines that I'm on. 40lbs to be exact so now I'm out the hospital, I downloaded an exercise app and personalized it to fit me it's the best. It's like having a personal trainer.
Don't give up I know it's it hard and sometimes you think you're alone you're not there's a lot of people outside that are going through the same stages in pain and stress and depression and loneliness that you're going through. I know that a lot of people don't want to talk about it I don't even want to hear about him but there's only one that can help you relieve that pain and that unsightly and depression that you're going through and that it's got when I feel that way I get on my knees and I prayed and I cry and I cry and I cry and when I get up I feel a different person God give me the strength each and every day to keep on. You're not alone we have to pray one another I'll be praying for you and for your pain it for you depression and everything you're going through and I know God has an amazing amazing purpose for everything you're going through and if your boyfriend still with you it's because God put them there because God knows you need someone who loves you and someone who cares for you
I gained Acute pancreatitis from Gabapentin... I fased them out wery quickly and also lost some other backside effects that I didnt know came from this poison... I wont come close to this shit again... But I know it works for some people... But it didnt for me for shure! Never ever again....
I've been on Gabapentin for 9 mos now. I take 3200mg/day. My weight has always fluctuated but I haven't noticed me gaining more since starting this medicine. My pain never goes away but it does help to decrease my pain a bit. My dr just prescribed me Nucynta for pain. I'm anxious to start it but the pharmacy has to order it. Hopefully I'll get it Tuesday. I wish all of you the best of luck in your "medicine quest". It sucks that we have to depend so much on this stuff.
I feel so crappy all the time anyway that I don't know what's from my CRPS and what's from the drugs. I just know that I do get a bit of relief from the gaba but I take WAY more than you do. My dr started me out on 900mg/day. 100 seems really low to even begin to touch pain.
I agree. Luckily my 2 older boys can help me with my little one. My 19 yr old takes me to all of my dr appts and they cook dinner every night. I feel horrible that they have to take on most of my responsibilities. Thank God above that I have them tough.
I am on 300/300/600 of gabapentin. No weight gain. Have you had your thyroid checked? It took 4 years for them to diagnose me hypothyoidism and it runs in my family. Are you on a muscle relaxer? That helps some of the pain along with not over doing it my choice instead of narcotics.
Imatute, have you ever tried lyrica which is more for Fibromyalgia. It is really expensive and I took from your post that you are paying for your medicne in cash. I don't know if that is true. But if you haven't tried it, Pfizer has high income income limits so that people who make more money can get this drug for free. You can even have insurance to. You can do your own search for it or you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on program. All you have to do is fill out a form and take the other part to your doctor and let him fill it out. I am sure he would do it to because Lyrica is like a sister drug to Gabapentin but more aimed for Fibromalgia. But a lot of its pro;parties are like gabapentin. Best wishes to you.
I'm on a low dose of gabapentin and have gained weight. But it could just as easily be my antidepressants, steroid-asthma meds, Hypothyroidism & meds, or all of the above combined that is too blame for my weight gain.
