Getting kicked when I'm down

Mar 04, 2015 10:58 PM

I've been having excruciating pain on my right side and went to the Doctor assuming it was gall bladder. After labs and an ultrasound I was diagnosed with liver disease and diabetes. My liver is "huge". I guess the silver lining is that my gall bladder is fine.

I'm really struggling and feeling overwhelmed and angry. I was barely treading water trying to manage all the other health issues I'm already dealing with. I was just beginning to recover emotionally from having to examine every detail of how my life sucks on so many levels during my social security hearing last month. I just don't know what to do with this.

Rock. Bottom.

Hopefully you'll feel better once you get your blood sugar under control. Look at this as a positive thing, rather than the negative. I know that sounds a little pragmatic, and is often easier said than done. I hope that things start looking up and that you are feeling better quickly.

And I understand how frustrating life can be when you have endocrine system issues on top of pain issues on top of life issues ... It can be depressing and daunting.

MountainMamma, I'm very sorry to hear you're going through so much. I understand feeling overwhelmed, one thing can't be dealt with before something else comes along. Been there done that...in it now. Be glad they identified these issues now, so you can adjust your diet to help with the diabetes at least, if not also the liver. My sister's liver has been enlarged for 15 years and she's doing fine, without additional meds for it. Praying for you 🙏🌼

MountainMamma, I am so very sorry to hear what has happened to you. It is overwhelming when you are dealing with health issues and pain and then get diagnosed with something else. I've been going through that for 20 years. My heart goes out to you. You will get your sugars under control with diet and medication and in turn, you will also see that your liver will be better. The liver is an amazing organ in that it can regenerate itself. I'm sending you gentle hugs and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for your supporting words. Feeling a little better today. Ordered a book on diabetic cooking and just going to dig my heels in and keep pushing along like we all do. 😁
