Going Nuts

Oct 03, 2015 1:58 PM

This pins and needles / crawling sensation under my skin is driving me round the bend. Hands &feet are freezing cold but the rest of me keeps braking out in hot sweats. Less than 5 hours sleep in the last 70 hours or so. Aaaarrrgggghhhh !!!!! 😠

Yanbo I'm sorry to say I feel your pain!! It's the worst because nerve pain is exactly like you describe, annoying and creepy and hard to get at and aggravating and agitating and nervy!! And lack of sleep makes it all ten times worse--at least. Can you call the doctor--maybe they can get you something to help with sleep until your next visit? Don't be afraid to call the doctor on call over the weekend -- I used to be way too intimidated but you have every right, especially right after a procedure.

After my procedure I was told that there may be some side effects ... not what they might be though. .. so I'll give it a couple more days. ... If I can stand it.....then get in touch with the doc's.

Do you have anything to help--over the counter, or maybe even some Calcium Magnesium or Melatonin to help with sleep? If you have a decent health food store and help getting there I think you could find some supplements to ease some of the reaction you're having. I think you're right, it will take a few days to calm down. I'm not sure what you had the block for or what the nature of your pain is--acupuncture can also help immensely with the acute nervy stuff if it's a possibility. Like anything else you have to be comfortable and it also depends on the practitioner.

Definitely keep track of your symptoms until you see your doctor, especially if you can't sleep. I wish I'd tracked the flares and insomnia together before got to my doctors. They never made the connection, even when I pointed it out.
I usually take valerian at night. Melatonin and Benedryl wake me up.

Benedryl is an excellent suggestion to help you sleep if you can tolerate it.

Oh sorry just saw that it wakes ferret up--I've taken it before to help get to sleep.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Luckily we have some benydril. I'll give it a go. The whole bottle should do. ..... only joking. Thanks people.

Yanbo, besides the benadryl, do you have any anxiety meds (to use in the daytime)? I get itching all over the last few weeks, and the Tranxene is the only thing helping. I hope you can get some rest tonight. 🌼

Yanbo, I am sorry that you are dealing with that creepy crawly thing under your skin.. I have several areas of my body that I had surgery on and that happens quite often. I am having such difficulty with my shoulders that my hands are buzzing and it feels like a constant vibration and pins and needles. The nerve pain is horrible. I hope that you get some relief. I have to say that sometimes I use Benedryl and it helps me fall asleep. Like anything else, It helps me fall asleep but unfortunately doesn't keep me asleep. I hope that you are able to get some sleep tonight. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Went to a diet seminar once they told me there is something in turkey that causes sleepiness. I always thought it was just from being busy on thanksgiving that made me sleepy. Seriously ask Dr to give you something and if it dont work after week call back try another

It IS true that there is a chemical in turkey called L-Tryptophan. It is what makes you so tired after you have eaten your Thanksgiving dinner.

I have a creepy crawling itching going down the back right arm going under my arm and down the outside of my breast. I went to my rheumatologist who said it was nerves, so I asked my other doctor who said it's not nerve related nor is it my neuropathy and gave me lidocaine hydroxychloride jelly which helps a little but I have gone through a whole tube in less than a week. I am going insane from it along with the neuropathy, occipital neuralgia, anxiety and fibromyalgia. I called the doctor's nurse and told her that it's not getting any better and she hasn't called me back.
