I plan on supporting my sister in the LA marathon run this weekend Saturday the 14th. Any suggestions to this? It's been a week since surgery and I meet with my Surgen Friday for a follow up. Iv not been doing much this last week just sitting keeping my hand elevated and been iceing it now. Yesterday I sat outside In the sun my cast got hot and I could feel it against my stitches. That was only and hour till it began to sting and hurt. The marathon my sister can do the 26 mile Course in 4 hours. So I'll be in the heat for a while anyone know tips or tricks to keep my hand cool and not burning or sweating ?
I accidentally hit the wrong button. A folding chair that has a umbrella attached to it. To help keep the sun off of you and try and get some where with good shade trees around u. I would also try to get several of those ice packs to put around u're cast. Roll up a towel wet it and freeze it in a gallon zip lock bag. Be sure u b bring enough water to drink also. Good luck hope u have a blast supporting u're sister.
Hey nikkib, I broke my leg in 5th grade and had a cast on all summer. It does sting and itch! Like weezie12 suggested, use a chair to sit on and an umbrella for shade, especially if you can't sit under shady trees. You could also do a lounge chair and bring your knees up to prop your hand on now & then. Whatever you do, don't scratch down inside the cast! I did and got an ugly sore. Use sunscreen and if you can't find an umbrella chair, use a wide brimmed hat.
Is there a chance the doctor may remove your cast? That would be more comfortable. Enjoy your outing but don't get overheated. 🌼
