Got my Disability determination

Dec 01, 2016 7:11 PM

I got denied for SSi disability. they stated that they believe I can still do light work. I would really like to know what light work I can do, cause I will do it in a heartbeat. I have tried at home tech, (at home anything really). McDonalds, burger king, some deli shops. walmart. Everywhere i go they said it wouldn't be a good idea and that i cannot perform what is needed of me. I can't sit for more than 15 minutes at a time. Hurts to stand, bend, crouch, twist, squat. I can't walk up the stairs, i usually crawl up when i go to bed. I am in physical therapy, with no improvement. I have had any test you can think of done to find the root cause. I am a graduate of An associates in Network Administration, and I cant find work in my field that I can really do. When the pain wasnt as bad i pretty much did delivery driving, i can't sit long enough for that anymore, never mind deliver food up stairs.

I am at a loss. I really am trying to find work. 2 jobs in the past year I had to leave and they were considered "light work"

I hate that's happening to you. :( Are you going to keep trying for disability? If so keep records of where you have worked and why you were let go. Records of places you applied and why they didn't hire you. Everything you have tried to try to get better. Even non conventional methods.

I got denied at Goodwill...

The disability quest is frustrating and unfair. I had migraines (literally I had a migraine that lasted over a year & I could barely keep my eyes open, was dizzy and could not drive with a doctor''s note to support it) & my request for disavilify after the first 6 months was denied saying that there was a doctor's note stating that the medication I had been prescribed was working. Nothing I took ever worked. I'm so sorry you have to deal with the added stress of not having an income. Our system is messed up.

Don't give up! Almost everyone gets denied their first time. First, start the appeal process. Then gather as many of your medical records as you can yourself. They send out requests to your docs, but sometimes they sit in a big pile and don't get done on time. Ask each of your Dr's to write a letter saying why they think you need disability. Personal letters work wonders! Do the leg work yourself or have someone do it for you. That way they have everything up front when they get your stuff and you're not relying on docs to get the info that you need. On time.

My social worker even suggested giving a template letter to your DR's to lessen the work load of writing a letter ...

Sorry you got denied but don't give up fighting for it. That's what they want you to do.

Ahh. I didn't see it was SSDI. Not sure what the next step would be for that. :(

Call your congressman or congresswoman. It worked for my Dad.

Other than SSDI I'm not sure what else I can apply for.

Deiveron I'm in the same boat as you. I have been rejected 3 times so far and waiting on my next hearing. But here in North Carolina I have to be disabled to get Medicaid which is state funded health insurance. I can't fully prove my case without going to all the proper doctors. I have Sjögren's syndrome, fibromyalgia, 3 herniated discs in my back that I know of I think I have more. Osteoarthritis, extremely bad knees, stomach problems that, hypothyroidism, rashes on my face, and the list goes on. I'm in constant pain all the time. All my joints hurt even in my fingers where I can't even write for a long time. I wanna thank the others for the links and we gotta keep faith that we will get the help we need. You are not alone.

Like others have stated get a lawyer not just anyone one that specializes in SSDI. It is so worth it and documenting everything even from 10 years ago or whenever this all started for you. Best of luck you will get it.

I have to agree with others. I fought the battle for years and kept losing until i hired an ssdi lawyer. The system is rigged so everyone makes money off it. I lawyer won't take your case unless he thinks he can win because he gets paid by ss, ok technically out of your years of back pay but still nothing out pocket.
