Got my placard today

Mar 24, 2016 11:31 PM

Hey yall I haven't been around during the week due to work and this week being my kid's birthday. I went to the dr today and got put BACK on gabapentin but he upped the dose and told me to be consistent with it since I wasn't last time. My bad. I just HATE taking pills! I wish medical marijuana was legal in TX so maybe I wouldn't have to take all these pills everyday. Maybe one day. Anyway he told me to be consistent with the gabapentin and flexeril for my normal 4-6 days and use the narcos during 8-10...11...12 off the chart flares. I think this is something I'd like to do. I'm going to try it for a couple months and see if there's a difference. Last time I was on it was a few years ago and I had a lot going on that I would forget my meds 2-3 times a week so I was my own worst enemy. Hopefully this time is better. He also gave me the note for my handicap placard so I went and got that today. It was bittersweet because on one hand I'm glad to have it when I need it but on the other hand I don't want it. I don't want to have to need it. It'll be nice to have it during hard times though.

Yes, I do agree about the card. It has saved my bacon on numerous occasions. There is always the Silent Woman who just notes it all down & grieves the losses of freedom, of one time friends, of sleep, of ability to do her own housecleaning& gardening, loss of enthusiasm & mental acuity, going for a walk, and of course loss of choice, be it parking or any other thing been left behind.
So happy you got the card you needed & sad you need it.

Cassi33, Though none of us want it, it's great we have it. I feel feeble & old because I can't do half of what I did just six years ago, not even 1/4 of it. If I didn't have the handicapped tag I couldn't make it in & out. I agree with you on the meds. I have to take so much I nearly gagged on some this morning! Lol. Have a blessed day! 🙂💕🙏🌼

I hate pills too, but am relieved to hear your doctor wants to see you succeeding :) I hope you don't need the placard. It is good to have for the just in case though.

The one great thing about the placard is when you need it you can use it If you have one. If you have one. You shouldn't feel guilty because there are often times when you need a space and there are none available. It all evens out. 😏

Most bad days i dont leave the house. If i had the placard i would really need it by the third errand stop on even my best days. Congratulation.

I didn't want my placard either but it really has helped give me the reason to not stop going out. I hope the gabapentin helps you!
