I've had pain in my left elbow for over 2 weeks. They diagnosed tendonitis and gave me a steroid injx on Wednesday. He warned me it would probably be"a little more painful & stiff. Omg, he lied... It's been excruciating! Before the injx I was managing between a 6-7 level. I woke yesterday at 4 am with the pain at a10, but as I tried to get a shower and dress, movement of the arm, elbow or even the fingers sent my pain so over the top I was crying and nauseated. My hubby and daughter came running as I screamed out in pain trying to get my clothes on. I wasn't able to use my arm, lift it, wiggle my fingers, nothing, all day yesterday. It's only slightly better today; I can lift my forearm and wiggle the fingers but the pain is still a 10. I can't hold anything heavier than a pen or it makes me want to cry from the elbow pain. I called the doc yesterday and described it to the nurse. She said I was having a "steroid flare," something not very common that could last 24 hours to several weeks. Dear Lord, please NOT! I'd never heard of a steroid flare until yesterday so I researched it. It may explain many of us having severe pain following steroid nerve blocks or other steroid injx.
