Happy Thanksgiving to all

I'm new to this idea of tracking my pain. It's been bad for 32 years with a botched surgery back in 1992 of the L4/L5 then 6 "try and fix it" jobs. Then a doc said it was my ankle and did surgery there too. Been taking pain pills like candy since then with a diagnose of "chronic pain". They now want to go in and scrap out all the scare tissue and try it again with no guarantee that it will be better. I'm able to work using pain Meds, anti-inflammatory meds, nerve blocking Meds, and steroid shots. To make it worse I have restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea. My pain changes day to day and was thinking that maybe I should try tracking my pain

It can make a world of difference and may give you some insight on your pain triggers and what makes it worse or better. The other good thing is that you have the entire Catch My Pain Community beside you to chat with or vent to. Good luck!!!

I feel your pain. Only you have been at it so much longer. Mine started also as a corrective measure in my neck in '05 with another same type surgery in '07 where an 1.5hr surgery became a 9 hr surgery and they killed me! Yep, I was dead for 21/2 mins.before they brought me back. God is so good. They broke my neck, tore my spinal cord lining, I had and stroke and and woke totally paralyzed on my right side. I have residual paralysis on the right side today (RT arm - I don't have complete range of motion & RT leg foot drop & limp, again God is good) + there is some memory loss. Chronic pain and woke rand more damage to the spine, some from the pieces and 2 plates Issa my neck and some from the no explanation I keep getting. But I press to keep 😊

I had very similar issues as you. Operated on L4/L5 6 years ago. I did not recover well from the operation and yet they considered it to be a successful operation but said the scar tissue from multiple injuries and the operations was likely the culprit for my severe pain. Two years after the partial diskectomy operation they recommended going in and removing the scar tissue, which I agreed to because I trusted them and figured they knew best. It was the worse mistake of my life. I now live with so much pain that I can barely make it from day to day and wonder how much longer i will survive like this with no sleep, chronic severe pain, taking so many drugs that my kidneys are struggling and so is my liver. I have no social life, my career has ended and my wife is wondering about life with me and I'm sure she is having thoughts of moving on, which in a way I can understand.

I can't tell you what to do I can only tell you that I went through all the same things you did and are thinking of getting done and I wish I never allowed any surgeries as my life has been turned upside down ever since the first scalpel cut my skin.

Your life mirrors mine...only I am a female with a very understanding husband. Thus far, praise God kidneys and liver are functioning well. I believe it's my faith in God that has me covered. First surgery was 2005, second 2007. Been on Avinza (morphine time - release capsule 60mg.)since 08. Jehovah Rapha is my Healer and my Keeper. Dr is going to up the morphine from 60 to 75 in Dec. bc of the pain. I am praying even about that. But I suffer so much. Spinal Cord Stimulator is not helping much either.

Thanksgiving is not a universal holiday and is only celebrated in the USA plus Canada but in October. This application is available on the internet which is the world wide web with many people not from the USA or Canada.

I started tracking my pain here to see the chart and if I could figure out some triggers. Happy Thanksgiving to you. Good luck with your meds!
