Has anyone had ankle surgery?

Feb 14, 2016 12:14 AM

Hi, I had a triple arthrodesis with 9 titanium screws put in and I am wondering if someone can tell me what to expect when my cast comes off and the stitches come out? I have been in a cast almost 6 weeks now and have had problems with my big toe and first metatarsal cramping.

What happened, that you needed the arthrodesis? I may not be the person to tell you. I had a horrible accident demolished my ankle. They said it was like a parachutes break. Where you come down on it hard and smash it to pieces. It took me 4 surgeries and two years to heal. Tell me how your situation happened.

I was born without heels and severly club footed. When I was 17 my arch fell in my left foot- that was 31 yrs ago. My feet have completely given out. My podiatrist said she is suprised it didnt happen 15 yrs ago. They tried everything to get the pain and swelling to go away. I had been in between fiberglass casts and air boots since last May. Now that my arch is fixed and my foot straight we are hoping I will eventually be able to walk without pain. My right foot will be done sometime in near future

I had a triple arthrodesis 9/18/15. Dr said the pain I had was because the other bones were reorienting themselves with the newly fused talus. I hope to walk without pain one day too.

Krissie i sorry i dont know of any one that had that kind of surgery. My dad smash his heal into thousand pieces in 1974. They fushed all the pieces together so hus ankle never bent again. They had to have a special brace made for him so it was non weight bearing for 20years. Then he just started dealing with the pain and walkex on it for 10 years. He was wheel chair bound for 11 Years. Technology has changed the way they can fix bones. I pra your surgery gives you less pain and more mobility.
