Has anyone tried low dose morphine?

Nov 11, 2016 1:04 PM

I'm supposed to try it but I'm nervous because I work and I don't want to be a zombie. Has anyone tried it if so how did it effect you?

Caution ... I tried it at home it was ok ... Then I got a drive and it set off motion sickness than vertigo and the next 2-3 days were horrific.
It was effective up until that point. I have a low drug tolerance with most meds ...

Everyone is different. . good luck finding that magic combo.

Are you new on here jskunky? I've been asking if there was anyone else who is paralysed on here. I'm a C3/4-6/7 and T7/8 Quad. What level is your Spinal Cord Injury??

Yes! 15mg 2-sometimes 3 times a day! It has been a godsend! I have been on twice daily for about 3 years, then got rear-ended in July. Now, during work week, I really need to close the gap toward evening with 3rd dose and some prns to get sleep and keep pain to 5-6,occasional better days..
You will not likely feel foggy, high or otherwise. At first I didn't think it was working, but then noted far less flares and shorter flares. Can't beat a long acting medication. Do Not try to take 1/2of pill. The long acting pills are like an onion-layered, to release over time.. You won't get the effect you are intended by trying to do this.

Thank you. I'm nervous about all day pain meds but I've gotten to the point where I need something more. I'm on Lyrica, tramadol and Robaxin. But I'm having trouble keeping the pain under control. I suppose I spend more time playing catch up.

I'm on morphine mst 20mg in the morning and 30mg at night. The long acting morphine doesn't leave me foggy or zoned out like the oral morphine or the morphine injections.
The morphine is good for me up to a certain point but my main life saver for my pain is Amitriptyline 100mg at night. It doesn't do anything at all for my depression and anxiety but for my pain in conjunction with the morphine mst it has brought it down to a more manageable pain to deal with.....unless I'm in a flair like now and everything is soo much worse but I'd hate to think what I'd be like if I wasn't on them! I've been taking this combination for just over a year now.
I hope you find something that will help you xx

Br13, you should be fine on low dose. I take 100mg extended release and it never made me tired OR a zombie. You'll do just fine. Hope you get a good result. Sending well wishes and good karma your way!!💕😊
