Have brain fog - need help!

Jun 01, 2019 10:31 AM

Today is a bad day for me in many ways and I need help!!

I had my PT yesterday and they added more exercises & increased others, totalling 8 + the bike for 10 minutes. I've paid for it all night with increased pain, muscle cramps in my legs, & increased neuropathy. I took muscle relaxers twice and extra gabapentin for the neuropathy, and unfortunately now I'm hit with awful brain fog.

I need potassium and my brain won't let me remember the natural food sources, except banana, but I can't eat 🍌 because of my ibs-c (constipation); it will block my system for days with bloat & cramping. I don't need that! What other food sources have good potassium??

Yoguart,Bananas, oranges, cantaloupe, honeydew, apricots, grapefruit (some dried fruits, such as prunes, raisins, and dates, are also high in potassium)
Cooked spinach
Cooked broccoli
Sweet potatoes
Leafy greens
Juice from potassium-rich fruit is also a good choice:

Orange juice
Tomato juice
Prune juice
Apricot juice
Grapefruit juice
Certain dairy products, such as milk and yogurt, are high in potassium (low-fat or fat-free is best).

Some fish contain potassium:

Beans or legumes that are high in potassium include:

Lima beans
Pinto beans
Kidney beans
Other foods that are rich in potassium include:

Salt substitutes (read labels to check potassium levels)
Meat and poultry
Brown and wild rice
Bran cereal
Whole-wheat bread and pasta. I let Dr. Google help with the list.

Thanks AnimalLover & LMB! πŸ‘ I had no idea on the potatoes. I eat almost everything on your list LMB, or should I say Dr Google's list. πŸ˜‰ I've never had Rockfish or Halibut, and we no longer easy cereal due to my hubby's diabetes & my gluten sensitivity. But otherwise it looks like our grocery list. Lol Thanks again! Cramps aren't as bad today but they'll likely return with PT tomorrow. πŸ™‚β€πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Just an update...I had PT again yesterday and informed the tech what happened after the last session. She didn't add any new exercises and actually cut 2 of them down in repetitions, and gave me instructions to stretch the muscles and use heat if it happens again. It definitely helped not to have a repeat of the cramping muscles after yesterday's session. The good news is that I've already improved in mobility range twice as strong and twice as far in leg lifts than I had when I started...yay! It's always good to see positive results, even if it does cause some discomfort. Wishing everyone a very blessed & low pain day with hugs love & prayers! πŸ™‚β€πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Oh brain fog! You have my sympathies! I put on an brand new expensive jacket today to try and cheer myself up. The pockets were stitched closed so I took a knife to gently pull out the stitching and wasn't concentrating and slashed through the fabric in the side of the jacket! Supposed to go to Waitrose to get ingredients for baking, but tired, slurry and not safe to drive. So no cake, back in bed. My sweetheart daughter has come in to cheer me up and watch "One Born Every Minute" - she's very funny watching it, so it should do the trick. Hang on tight, you are loved, have a comfy bed, a safe house, a fridge full of food, and won't go to bed with an empty tummy, drinking stagnant water. But I do really understand βœοΈπŸ™πŸ»πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§β€οΈ

Oh no fibropen! Is it possible to get the jacket repaired? I've had many bad days of fibrofog, but I can't remember one like yours. Well, I guess double paying bills & overdrafting our account would qualify. Brain fog can be selectively funny, lol! I hope your daughter and you had a really good day and lots of laughs. Hopefully today will be a much better day!

AnimalLover2, it does feel good to know I'm feeling stronger with the therapy. And my hubby said this morning that my legs are starting to tighten up in the muscles (not flabby). Yay!

Shore, I'm doing good. I hope today is a good day for you.

Hugs love & prayers everyone will have a low pain day today! πŸ™‚β€πŸ™πŸŒΌ

I hate brain fog....it’s so frustrating. I’m glad PT reduced some exercises. My therapist does the same, as he says, he’s there to help me, not beat me up.
Keep up the good work and I hope everyone has a good hump day.

Gabbylynn, it's great when we have caring therapists. I'm glad you have a good one too! You have a blessed day with hugs love & prayers! We are finally receiving some much needed rain as of last evening, after 26 days of dry spell. Our grass was dying. πŸ™‚β€πŸ™πŸŒΌ

We are very lucky indeed. I’m glad you are finally getting rain. We’ve been pounded in my area. We’ve had some flooding of the Ohio River and local streams here.
Talking about brain fog, my pain management doctor is completely paperwork that will determine if I’m back to work full time and any accommodations. I remembered to mention sitting and standing but forgot to mention memory issues. I cannot believe I forgot to mention that. Ggrrrrr

Can you call the office & speak with the nurse?

As for the flooding everywhere West of us, I feel awful for everyone affected by it right now. And there will be a trickle down effect in lack of food crops this summer & fall, as well as insurance increasing nationwide. My daughter works for a large insurance company and when I was fussing about our premium going up every 6 months she explained it's because of all the losses in natural disasters. Although it's an ugly reality I can understand it.
