haven't been on in awhile

Apr 28, 2015 6:03 PM

Ended up moving just over a week ago, had no internet access and phone was on data roaming and wasn't working well. Moving was horrible, didn't have the help we were told we would have. So I over did it for several days and have felt horrible for over a week now. I'm finally getting a sleep study done this weekend. Also got a letter from disability, I have to go see a phycologist next week. I guess in a way that's good cause I haven't yet got denied. Going to try and relax the rest of the week, here's hoping for less pain for everyone.

Hey there, Jay.... I'm glad that you got the move over and done with. Now that you are finished, you can relax and settle in. I agree that it is a good sign that disability is sending you for your psych evaluation and that you haven't been denied. I guess they do it differently nowadays. When I went for my disability, I had to show up at their offices, bring all my medical records and notes from my doctors and then while I was there, they did xrays on the worst parts of me (Which at the time was my left knee and left shoulder), they did a psych evaluation and then I saw another doctor who did a physical and checked my range of motion and reflexes, etc. Before I left the building, I asked how long it takes before everything is reviewed and I get an answer on where I go from here. She immediately looked into my folder at the notes written by the people I'd seen that day and told me, "You have already been approved, now it will take a couple of weeks for them to process all the paperwork and then you will receive your acceptance letter in the mail". I got very lucky... My Disability was beginning around 10 years ago now and since then, it has been made much more difficult for people to obtain their benefits no matter the state or circumstances. It saddens me when I read posts here that folks who have worked their whole lives, are having horrible issues with pain, anxiety or both and they are being denied right and left. I am one who personally thinks that it's all bullshit. You have worked and paid for your disability all along just in case you need it and then the Governments says, Oh well, that doesn't qualify or so sorry, you're not bad enough to get what you need. I hope and pray that very soon, each of you that are waiting for your disability and/or appeals get them.

You'll probably get it, but on the off chance you are denied, appeal! And you might want a lawyer if you do. I got my disability on my second appeal, and I wish I'd gotten a lawyer on the first appeal.

JayS77 Glad you got you move over and are settled in there. The sleep study is a peice of cake, the hardest thing is having to sit still to put all those electrode on your head, then washing the gunk out of your hair. Good luck on your Physic eval. Hope this you get your approval this time. Like Pat says get a Lawyer and appeal. Good luck.
