Having a rough time...need a hand

Dec 04, 2016 9:00 PM

This kind extends the naesuea post . Just feeling bad. Csnt tell what pain is fibromayalgia and which is surgery. I was doing well with not taking pain meds and when I started hurting I took my tramadol but now I feel I should have taken the Percocet . So now I'm of course having to wait since I have tramadol in me. But in the meantime I'm struggling.

So sorry to hear this. Hang in there. I have had to start taking things consistently because I have ended up in your shoes. But, you probably shouldn't do that with perc.

•How long ago did you take the tramadol?
•Have you eaten anything?
Maybe you should try something small to eat like a slice of toast, a small bowl of cereal/porridge or a small bowl of soup every 2 hours rather than trying something big every 4-5 hours (carried on from the nausea post).
Sometimes not eating can make you feel worse as well and the pain you're having could be a mixture of fibromialga pain and post surgery but because you're not feeling well it's all mixed up.
•Have you tried breathing exercises? They may help take your mind off the pain....breath in thro your nose counting to 8, hold your breath for 10-20 seconds then breath out thro your mouth counting to 10. Do this a few times and it may help.

I took the tramadol 4 hours ago. I did get a protein shake and muffin about an hour ago. The breathing exercises is difficult because it feels like the more I focus on the breathe the worse the naesuea gets.

Sorry hit post by accident, here's more....
•Do you have a lavender candle or an oil burner with lavender oil?
Lavender can help relax you which in turn can help ease the pain slightly for you as well.

I wish there was something I could suggest that would be better 😢
Sending you my prayers that the pain starts to ease for you soon and {{{BIG GENTLE HEALING LOVING HUGS}}} XX

😞 it sucks when u thought you could make it on less & you need more so much more!
Wish I could do more but I'll pray for you.

Isn't tramadol every 4 hours? so wouldn't you be able to take the Percocet now?
OK maybe meditation might help? Or listening to music you like? Reading?
I'm sorry I really don't know what else to suggest 😢 I can only think of things that might help distract you for a bit.
Sending you positive vibes and hugz xx

Thanks for thr ideas ..I've used all my lavender oil. It does help a lot. I'll need to add this to the list for my pick ups.

Can you soak in the tub yet? I have a throw blanket that heats up and I wrap up in that and even though it doesn't actually take the pain away it does calm me!

Dec 04, 2016 9:42 PM

No..I'm not gonna be in a bath for another five weeks. But I do have my chamomile tea and my blanket.

Dec 04, 2016 9:44 PM

Glad you have tea and a blanket!!! 5 weeks 😑 ugh! You poor thing. Stay warm! I hope you get relief soon!

Dec 04, 2016 9:51 PM

I'm gonna hope thst four hours is long enough between the two meds. I'm gonna tske the Percocet and eat some ginger snaps and hope I go to sleep. Thank for being with me guys. As we all know its awful being alone during times like this .

Dec 04, 2016 10:05 PM

I forgot about ginger, the ginger snaps should help calm the nausea down a bit for you and I'm almost certain that tramadol is every 4 hours so you should be fine to take the other ones now.

That's why we're here, to help you on your down days and to help you celebrate your good days xx

Sending you positive vibes and hugz xx

Newfibrogirl. I hope you were able to get some rest last night. (((hugs))) I always have nausea meds with me. Between migraines and high pain days I often deal with nausea.

I also have peppermint oil that I can place a drop of 2 on my tongue to help.

Crackers are helpful as well.

For pain I have found that if I have something to do to help keep me occupied it helps. Like reading a book, writing, coloring, sewing or reaching out to friends. Music is always a plus. I have different music I listen to for different occasions. Celtic Woman or Celtic Thunder are the type of groups I listen to when I need to find some calm.
