Headaches and why you keep one

Apr 03, 2016 9:09 AM

That's the question, to bad the docs idea of an answer isn't right, from caffeine withdrawal, which I don't partake of and haven't for over 6 years now, sinus infection which no antibiotics could cure, to inflamed sinuses for which nasal spray doesn't work either and no the headaches aren't migraines. So what causes headaches that doctors have no answer for? Any help would be appreciated.

Bethann, I'm sorry you're having difficulty getting a diagnosed cause & proper treatment. I get multiple types of headaches, from sinuses (front pressure, upper face), migraines (one sided throbbing, sensitive light/sound), tension (squeezing/tightness at base of neck and shoulders), and cervicogenic (neck discs - pain crawls up neck to top of head). I've began a new headache that starts behind my left ear, at the base of my skull and it travels forward & upwards to envelop the whole left side of my face, pounding/squeezing/pinching behind rear into neck. It started after throwing up about a month ago. I think I've pinched a disc in my neck and I'm waiting to see where my PCP wants me to go and get it checked. I use OTC pain meds, heating pads, frozen rice socks, voltaren gel, dark, quiet room, and rx migraine & muscle relaxers to help. I hope & pray you can find out the cause of yours, and get better control of them. Hugs & prayers! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ’•

I'm having a real doozy of a caffeine withdrawal and without my coffee I have one of these doozies and oooooooohh they hurt soooooo bad, but that's not all, I can not even enjoy the time with my husband and that is bad That's excruciating pain to it's fullest my dear peers whom I speak to you through the experience I'm having right at this point in when it gets to that, I just want to be turtle so I can hide in my shell and that is when I want to be alone spending time to myself and nobody to be around nice and quiet to ease the pain when I just can't take it anymore to the breaking point. I'm in that struggle right now I understand what all of you are going through we're all in the same boat and hopefully this boat can feel much better!!! God's word is faith just a little bit of faith is all you need to succeed is all you need! Stay strong and keep looking forward!

Post concussion syndrome or you can sometimes get headaches from the medication you're on if you've been on it for a while. I use a menthol stick and painkillers to try and help mine. Wishing you tons of spoons :)

I came across a condition that is usually misdiagnosed as a migraine ....its called occipital neuralgia....its a pain that is behind the ear/base of skull and radiates up and over the skull-can cause eye pain and all sorts-google it for more information....when i read up on it, it was like a massive light bulb moment as it described about 99.9% of my migraine type symptoms....whilst im still waiting for it to be diagnosed (UK), its helped me get a stretch exercise to help alleviate a bit of pain, and get the acupuncturist to start treating it, but also, im a lot more aware of my neck position (when possible) which helps a bit too....it can be a condition in its own right, or I believe, can be as a consequence of fibromyalgia (which is what i have :-/)....my interpretation of what i read is that, tightened muscles in the neck/head/shoulder area aggravate the occipital nerve....it does bloody hurt, but understanding 'your' migraines help....so i hope this helps at least one person :) (Even though i hope no-one has it...)

I am walking beside you. I took 4 walks today which is unheard of but it did feel good now I am all nice and warm. I pray that by GOD's guidance you will figure it out. My friend had chronic headaches and had an ear piercing on the inner part of the ear, the blue ring. Now no more head aches

๐ŸŒนFabulous piercing... looks gorge E ๐Ÿ˜š... is it an acupuncture point?

( ๐Ÿค”Please go to a trained body piercer for this piercing ... as it is sterile and placed away from any blood flow) ๐Ÿค— Good luck!

Hi! I too am new here and I know first hand how frustrating it is when doctors are not able to give us a firm diagnosis. I was in a very traumatic car accident in February of this year. I was diagnosed with post concussive headaches. The headaches have been absolute debilitating and approximately one week ago, I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia and occipital neuralgia. Finally some answers. I pray that you too will find some answers. Very often, knowledge is half the batter. That doesn't mean that "knowing" is "healing" abut is is the start in us being able to truly seek help and find relief. I am so happy to have found this community...very, very grateful!

I've had headaches since I was about 5 yrs old. Not a single doctor could figure out why. My chiropractor, on the other hand, feels my spine has everything to do with them. It seems he is right. As when I can afford it, I get adjusted and am almost fully headache free after spinal manipulation with cold laser therapy. He states that when the spinal column is "off" any variety of symptoms can be debilitating, including headaches, eye socket pain etc as nerves are affected wreaking havoc in our systems.

My headaches are tension headaches from my shoulders and upper back always feeling tight. I suspect I have fibro but I'm afraid to go to dr and mention it cuz they aren't too keen on patients that self diagnose. Can't choose another dr cuz insurance is picky
