Headaches neatly every morning!

Jan 18, 2015 7:53 AM

I wake up with a headache every day almost. Its severe like a band of squeezing pressure all the way around, but the worst area is the whole front right side, all the way into my eyes, nose, and cheek. Its not my migraines but I don't know what kind of headache it is. Any suggestions?

Title should have said nearly every morning... Auto correct sucks

Jan 18, 2015 9:04 AM

It could be tension headaches from clenching your jaw at night (from pain ). Have you tried any of your normal headache meds? Ice/heat? Massage? What have you tried for it so far?

Lately I've been waking up with headaches every morning in my eyes and the top of my head and my neck. I've had bad headaches everyday before my pain condition but now with it too, I can't cope.

You can massage the area in between your thumb and index finger. If you look up a diagram and do it on the right place it can help

Stay strong

I love auto correct too. As for the headaches the same thing happens to me. I have had lots of tests. Of course none of them came back with an answer. I tracked them my self and they seem to be worse if I get dehydrated the day before.
This means I pay a bit more attention to getting enough water and tea during the day. It does not seem to be the whole answer but it helps.
I hope you find the answer to yours soon. A headache is a terrible way to start your day.

Reece, I rolled flat of my back and waited 30 min before getting up. Then I took 2 migraine caps because the pain was still so bad. After eating breakfast and drinking my daily (decaf because of heart palpitations) coffee, it still had not eased in pain intensity, but the pressure in my right eye/nostril seemed a little better. After about 2 hours I asked my husband to get me a Tylenol sinus congestion tablet, and its actually easing more. But that tight squeezing band around my head won't let up. Going to try a warm shower with the massage spray dial.

Fibronorth, you may have something on the dehydration. I don't know why I didn't think of it. I've been on allergy/cold meds for 2 mos nearly (on & off), and its actually causing dry lips, mouth and constipation. I'll have to remember to increase my water today.

Thanks to you both. My head hurts so bad I just can't think straight, and if I don't get it stopped it WILL trigger a migraine.

A good app for tracking water intake and foods etc. Is "Lifesum" I cannot emerge if water intake tracker if a premium feature or not. If it is, it is $20 a year

Jan 18, 2015 9:57 AM

You could ask someone or try yourself doing a cranial/ scalp/ head massage it may help to easy that bands around your head. Also maybe bath (if you can ) with about 1 cup of Epsom salts and some bath oil that may help as well and is the perfect place to massage yourself

I have the cursed daily never ending headache. Some of mine is from jaw clenching which I do at night but also during the day when pain is super bad. I have a spot in the back of my head that my husband can hear pop across the room which adds to my headache. I also have migraines occasionally. Then there is sinus headaches which are behind my eyes, across my forehead and my cheeks
I use a neti pot for sinus it helps a lot. So far no doctor thinks it is any big deal I try to tell them it is like a migraine tension sinus headache all in one.

Jan 18, 2015 11:26 AM

Jaw clenching for sure could be a big part of it. We peeps in pain tend to clench our jaws at night. Someone had said on here there is a name for what I like to call "face headaches". I get them often. Sham- I would describe them as sinusy migraine headaches as well.
I haven't really found much to help, Flap! A hot compress helps a bit as does a big dose of Alieve, but it just takes the edge off.

Jan 18, 2015 1:51 PM

Jesswoo, I also wonder if what I'm having is a sinus/migraine combined headache. I started getting some relief after a massage & shower & meds. But its still there as a nagging pest.

I do clench my jaws day & night and have TMJ. I lost a jaw tooth 3 years ago and over the past year, while trying to decide what to treat first (missing tooth or TMJ), they discovered my TM joint and jaw bone is deteriorating. That's when I had a bone scan and learned I have osteopenia, and was told 1) a post would be needed to replace the tooth, 2) to do a post I would need a bone graft, but 3) due to osteopenia a bone graft nor post will hold, and 4) I may end up with artificial TM joints (if they can even do them). As you can imagine, my response was, "why bother? If the osteopenia is damaging everything, why spend any money for what may not take?". I chop food smaller and am careful not to clench when I realize I'm doing so. I also wear a night splint.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I'm going to try a compress now.

I have TemperoMandibular Joint problems (TMJ) myself but not as bad as you flappy, I hope you find relief. With me my TMJ muscle is very prominent (like a dog or horse, litterally) and that is causing me a lot of problems with clenching and mild soreness (i don't track that though). For mine all I can do is rest my hae and open my mouth woke holding it so my muscles can atrophy. I Also have a c. Spine cuff which I'm going to see if I can use to hold my jar for me sometimes but because of Allodynia , Hyperaesthesia and other symptoms I doubt I'll be able to wear it

Jan 18, 2015 9:04 PM

Reece, from my perspective it seems (although my TM joint & bones are literally deteriorating), I've lived most of my life healthy, until the last 6 years nearly. I feel blessed. My decision to do nothing further on my tm joint & teeth was pretty simple.

But in my opinion, you are so young with so many problems. I just hope and pray God will guide you to a very caring & diligent doctor, to help you find the right treatments so that you can get some issues resolved or at least more manageable. I pray God helps you find the best doctor you've ever had, because after all, our treatment is only as good as the care & time the doctor is willing to give us.

Thank you flappy, although I am not really religious I do believe in an afterlife and when someone prays or hopes for me. It feels good. Thank you

Jan 19, 2015 7:27 AM

Reece, Please dont take this wrong. Im not preaching at you, but rather sharing about myself with you. "Religious" to me is just a word. I prefer to say I have faith, I believe in God. I believe Jesus died on the cross and was raised 3 days later for all our sins (mine too). I believe I am never alone because the Holy Spirit lives in me; as my conscience and guide. I call those beliefs "faith" in God, to strengthen me mentally & in my faith (spiritually) even while I go through physical trials. As a child I lived in a very dysfunctional family and had I not learned about God, that He's with me through everything, I might not have made it to now.

Let me share one story, of my third pregnancy. I went for my ultrasound and was told, "We need you to go straight to your doctors office" (before office US). The doctor said I had an ectopic pregnancy and I was being admitted to abort the pregnancy. I was devastated and Aline at the moment. I called my husband to come to the hospital. As I was walking into admission my associate pastor was walking by, and when he saw me he stopped to ask why I was there. I broke down telling him and he began praying. Fast forward to the next day... I was waking up from anesthesia and all I remember was my husband smiled and said, "We're stillpregnant.!" My daughter is 27. My miracle baby is because of God. The ovary & tube fell & twisted, causing problems that needed fixing, but she was not a tubal baby.

I want to share a second story of how God has protected me. At the age of 23 I was a new mother, home alone with a 6 month old. One afternoon a man knocked on my door. I opened the door to a clean well dressed man in a business suit. He greeted me by name and asked if my husband was him, and I told him no. He stated he was with a company and they gave stuff to new parents. At that moment my baby cried waking up. I asked him to wait a moment as I went to get my baby. When I came back the man was standing inside my house 3' from the door! Alarm bells went off in my head and I said a prayer, "God help me!". Again the man stated the gifts were for the family and asked, " when will your husband be home?" God helped me gather my wits and looking at the wall clock, I replied, "He works at the police department (truth) and his shift is just ended (truth). He should be home within the next 15 minutes (not true; more like 30).". Suddenly the man turned and said he wasn't able to wait that long, but he would come back at another time when we could both be home (all while walking out my door and down the steps). I asked " do you have a business card?" Nope he didn't. The minute he was out the gate I bolted the door. Our local news was on and suddenly an emergency news flashed about "a tall man in business suit, preying on mothers & raping them!". I was shaking as I dialed 911 and told them I thought the man had just been to my house. Reece, God gave me the sense to state my husband was an officer, and that's what saved me! That's only two of many ways God's worked in my life. He is ever present in my health issues. But to know that I have to believe, and that's my faith.

Can I ask if your not being religious has to do with your health issues, feeling helpless & hopeless sometimes? Or is it because no one's ever told you simply, "God loves you just the way you are.". May God bring a miracle in your life so you can believe in Him, and never feel alone, ever! 😘🌻

Look into a cluster headache. They act like sinus headaches with sinus pain and congestion along with dye drainage and pain behind the eyes. Very painful though.

Jan 21, 2015 8:10 AM

Hi flappy sorry, just saw your post. I don't quite get your what you mean in your question. I have been told god loves me but I dint understand your other question.

I have had developmental (Autism) and mental health (Clinical Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Panic Disorders and more (including suicidal tenancies))

Could you please explain your question a bit and I'll answer for you. Thank you for all your help to you and everyone :)

Jan 21, 2015 8:33 AM

Hi Reece, I'm glad you're back online. I was getting worried you had a bad flare up.

As for the question, I guess I'm asking if by being so sick do you doubt God's existence? The reason I ask this is because I know several people who, when things aren't right for them, either doubt God exists or think they're being punished. And "God doesn't work like that," is always my response to them. I also wanted to know what "being religious" means to you? Simply because you said you don't consider yourself religious.

I don't like to compare "being religious" with "having faith & belief in God.". I know too many " religious" people who think they're better than others, and put on quite the "snob attitude.". It puts a very bad taste in my mouth over " religion" and that's why when people ask me "What religion are you?" I respond "I'm a Christian," meaning I'm dedicated to God and not a "religious" affiliation. I don't mean to upset or insult anyone, because we're all entitled to believe what we choose, everyone. So please no one reading this take my thoughts as insults!

You don't have to answer if you don't want. I'm just curious because my son in law professes he's atheist, but when things go wrong he sends word by my daughter to "ask your mom to pray." Hmmm? I love you Reece, because you are so open on here, and wise about many things above your years, and nonjudgmental; good qualities in anyone. 💠God loves you way more!

Jan 21, 2015 1:25 PM

What i mean by religious is that I don't believe in a God "person" as such. I do believe that there may be an afterlife and that in it you have no ailments, I just don't believe in a person making everything and everyone.

If anything I find I've been more religious/faithful in illness, not because I am actually changing my mind, just because I need to try absolutely everything possible to help me. I don't pray (Apart from 10 times when I was so desperate I needed to do anything ) i just believe in afterlife... possibly.
I really appreciate your concern and unfortunately I have been having a 7 day long flare up, is finally beginning to calm down.

Thank you so much for your kind words, I think of everyone on here as family, we are all in the same battle, a pain and QOL battle. I don't agree with judging people before you know them.

I hope I've helped people on here because truthfully I've been falling apart faster than a heart can stop

I hoe you all have a good pain day

Jan 21, 2015 1:28 PM

Reece, you are wiser beyond your years! Hang in there ;)

Jan 21, 2015 3:53 PM

Thank you Jess, are you okay today? Ate you flappy?

Jan 21, 2015 8:57 PM

I actually had an appt today on the GYN & pelvic floor issues. They're going to hold off of surgery and try trigger point injections, something I've not had, and more pt for the pelvic floor muscles. If that doesn't work then its probably internal scar tissue, which means another surgery. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Reece you are A-ok! Smart and a friend. I'm glad we met.

Jan 23, 2015 7:10 AM

So last night I had a bronchospasm & coughing fit from asthma. I took my benzonatate and within 30 minutes I had a frontal-right headache. Took another one at bedtime because I get coughing fits in my sleep. Woke up with another frontal-right headache but not as bad as its been being...took 2 Tylenol Arthritis (bc cold rain carried again...yuk). I think I found the connection! 🙌 I'll just have to use Tylenol with the benzonatate.

Jan 23, 2015 8:34 AM

FlappsyLady, I am so sorry that you had that bronchospasm and had a rough night. I know they're horrifying. (My Cousin gets them). I have GERD and sometimes I'll doze off and the acid will fly up and out my nose and I end up aspirating. I've had aspiration pneumonia a couple of times and I've had microplasma pneumonia that can lie for ab for years and if you get any kind of URI it will rear its ugly head. I'm so glad you found the connection to the headaches.. At least that's a positive thing!! I hope you have a blessed and not so painful day.

Jan 24, 2015 11:18 AM

I'm very glad I met you too flappy

Feb 04, 2015 3:04 PM

I had headaches every day when I woke up, my husband said it was because I needed my eyes checked. I ended up getting glasses and the morning headaches went away, now I just get random migraines from my IA instead.

Feb 04, 2015 7:10 PM

Eesmee, my vision has changed every single year for the last 15 yr. That's a possibility I'd forgotten. Thanks for the reminder. ☺
