Hello Another newbie here!

I have recently (finally) been diagnosed with Fibro. I have struggled with it for the better part of 6 years. I also Have seasonal depression. I have been micromanaging diet and exercise for years since doctors just thought I was crazy.

My new doctor is hoping that Zoloft will help, but from previous experience it has no affect on the pain. So charting my levels to not lose info in the fog. The next step she wants to try if the Zoloft fails is cymbalta. What are your experiences with Cymbalta?

I'm on duloxetine (Cymbalta generic) and have fairly positive experience with it. It's not a miracle cure, but when they briefly took me off of it, I noticed. It helps a little, so gradually that you don't really notice until you're not taking it. I'm still trying to find my combination of pills. Still kind of hoping for the magic one....

I've tried both Zoloft and Cymbalta and neither have worked on me, although neither does morphine or many other drugs! Everyone's bodies are so different, you have to listen to yours closely and hope for the best! I hope you find something that helps you! Best of luck RavenRose!

Welcome to the community RavenRose! I was put on Cymbalta in 2014 for my fibromyalgia and major depression. At first it helped really well for both issues, for about six months. Then I started having increased pain and depression with moodiness. After 9 months I began to feel like it's be better offer dead. My doctor said it was suicide ideations & took me off from the cymbalta. Later I had a genetic test that showed I have 2 gene defects: one is the MTHFR gene, which keeps me from absorbing and breaking down B Vitamins, especially Folate; the other gene defect affects my ability to metabolize benzodiazepine meds. That could be why I had problems with cymbalta, prozac, and many other antidepressants.

I am using gabapentin, muscle relaxers, Tylenol Arthritis rotated with Aleve for pain. Occassionally i need my tramadol. I hope you will be able to find something that works well for you. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! (((Hugs))) 🙂🙏🌼
