Hi Katelyn welcome. I have chronic back nerve pain too. I have a great pain team who told me that the pain signals from my back go to the brain. So you can positively say YES the pain is in your head that is where it is supposed to be. Some Drs really don't have much of a clue with chronic pain so shop around. It took almost 2 years to get the right team for me. There are loads of knowledgeable and experienced people here so don't hesitate to share and ask questions πŸ‘

Welcome to our community family Katie12! I'm sorry to hear of your accident worsening your pain. Trust me, I'm living proof that auto accidents can cause lifetime problems in the spine! I've been in 5 accidents, only 1 was my fault, and I'll have my third neck fusion in August. It can take months to years to improve &/or worsen. I've done chiropractor, massage therapy, PT, and then surgery...always my last resort. A pain specialist brought me the most long term relief. I went through epidural steroid blocks (ESI's) from 2012-2014, and I just started feeling lumbar, sciatica, & headache pains last October. Pain specialists use special radiology equipment that allows them to see more for injx. Now unfortunately it's quite frequently, but because of my neck the doc won't even look at the rest of the spine. Be open to trying different pain relief methods. Hugs & prayers you'll get answers & help soon! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Hi I had a car accident to back in 2009 an been in pain ever since. I ended up under the pain clinic. Had a nerve block about 4 years ago c3-5 in neck. That worked for 2.5-3 years then pain came back middle of last year. Saw another pain doc few weeks ago now they say it's muscle spasms in neck that's trapping the nerves in neck. They want to give me steroid injections in neck an shoulders. People they have not been through it don't understand. They say they understand but really they don't have a clue they are patronising to. You could ask your doc to put you on Pregablin. I've only just gone back to work after being off since beginning of the year.

Welcome to a great place! Doctors tell you its in your head because they don't have the guts to admit they don't know what's wrong with you and can't make it better.
