Lifting 100kg, crushed l3l4 protrusion disc, went to hospital they pulled nerves for injection. This created ongoing hyper sensitive flowing nerve reaction feels like a billion ants. Crawling and biting. 6mnths later had a spine fusion great outcome. but nerves inleg send me crazy. tried opiates, no good saw a psychiatrist put on psych drugs great helped. but still driven mad at times by high nerve activation.

That sounds awful, I wish I knew of some way to help you. I hope you will find some way relieve the pain or distract yourself from it

Hi Birdiebabe . I use a technique of flowing calmness, finger tips through the rest of my body. It's weird, I can't move the calmness through my leg as I can't sense there is a leg. I had a work injury so luckily I have a good medical support. but no opiates only neuro medication works. But relaxing with calmness is a good technique. it did take some time though. 😕your advice on distraction is the key. I'll attempt it. thanks Birdiebabe

Hi Gregincommunity, have you tried Gabapentin? It's a nerve blocker. It would help block those faulty nerve signals from reaching your brain, thereby relieving those awful feelings. I hope this helps!

Gregincommunity, welcome! I had cervical fusions twice and the discs above & below are disintegrating & collapsing. I also have it happening in my thoracic & lumbosacral areas. I get hit with tingling pins & needles mostly, & sometimes throbbing, in the hands & feet. But sometimes I get stinging and feeling like insects are biting me. That only happens in the legs & feet. I was put on gabapentin early this year but taken off due to tremors, which they sent me to Mayo for (didnt find the cause). Now that Mayo has dismissed me I'm hoping they'll let me back on the gabapentin. I've heard a lot of good about it, and some bad, but I'm willing to risk it since the surgeons day there's nothing they can do (risks outweigh benefits). Good luck finding what works for you! I'll say a prayer for you that it will be soon! 🙏🌼
