I would like to be able to track my sleep cycles as associated with pain and possible medication? I guess my challenge is if I get myself into the right position and comfortable I can get to sleep ok but the pain discomfort wakes me during the night and often the inability to return to sleep until I'm needing to be up and functioning which is when I am seemingly at my most tired. also feel this could be due to times at which I take my slow release meds as in when I do wake up during the night my pain isn't always as bad as during the day and I often feel more alert but can't stop the meds so is this due to them reaching their peak delivery in the cycle? might not be practical for this program but sleep duration and the quality of it I found has been an important factor in how I manage other aspects of life the following day not to mention response to pain or ability to cope with it?
@BK7 - Thank you for the good input. We are currently working on the option to integrate data from movement trackers into CatchMyPain, and some of these movement trackers, e.g. the Fitbit, tracks also sleep. You are absolutely right, sleep might influence pain a lot or pain might influence sleep, while other factors influence sleep as well. It makes a lot of sense therefore to have a look at the possible influences and see correlations. Same with movement in general. Keep on giving your input, it is very valuable to us and helps improve CatchMyPain further!
Loving this app! Question though please. Is there's any way to email for instance a month or week section of history to myself for saving to PDF format to send to Dr instead of all history being mailed? Ty
Hello everyone, here are some answers to your questions:
@Louise - There is currently no option to make a pain entry without a specific starting and ending time. This is needed to generate the pain chart. You can however, in your pain profile, enter the onset of the pain and say there, when the pain started (without an end date). The idea with the med history feature we have added to our wish list. Thanks!
@Ty - Currently, there is no option to choose only a specific time range, but it is planed to implement so. You could however choose to print or save as PDF only certain pages of your exported pain diary. This could be a solution in the meantime.
@ilstaura - Thanks for the input. Good point. We will have a look at that.
Again, thanks for your feedback and we are looking forward to hear more! Your CatchMyPain team
I find it very annoying that I had to make a community post too get the app to stop bugging me about it. I paid for this; I don't wanna have notifications I can't get rid of. I made my 'intro' post basically stating that and have gotten several replies with people agreeing with me, so, clearly, I'm not the only one that's annoyed by that. It'd also be nice if I could enter a baseline of pain, since I'm literally constantly in pain. Then, after I've set my baseline in areas, I could input times when it peaks or lulls below the average amount. Medicine tracking/history would be nice, along with doctor history and/or managing upcoming appointments. Oh, and since you offer a rudimentary social aspect, it would be nice to be able to a. opt in or out of the social feature, b. if you opt in, it'd be nice to choose whether or not to share your medical conditions (so people could search for those with similar issues) and/or have a small about me section (kinda like twitter or instagram, where you could maybe share age, name, hobbies, things like that in a small paragraph), c. integration with Facebook or other social media, and c. some kind of private messaging option.
Thank you very much for your valuable feedback. Have you already tried to create an entry with your baseline of pain and duplicate it by clicking "Load as Template"? Then you can simply edit the entry with your peaks.
Medicine tracking is already available in the CatchMyPain App for smartphones. It will sooner or later also be supported for tablets.
The CatchMyPain Community is still in its early stages. We will extend it regularly with public profiles, private messaging, and so on. Please stay tuned.
I like the template for pain, but it would be nice to have extra controls, as mostly some areas are always in oain but the amount varies, so a paintbrush that adds the next intensity pain to the current one on the area and one that takes away would help. (i guess this could be done by adding or subtracting a %age of red?)
Good to hear! I use Clue for menstrual cycle charting, too, and it occurred to me, when one of its reminders popped up, that it would be nice to have to option to set a reminder, in app, to use the app. Since I'm trying to document my pain better for my pain mgmt group, it would be great if I could get a reminder to chart once (or however many you set) a day. Like today, I was in bed asleep almost all day, and the Clue reminder to chart in that app reminded me to chart in this one. Thanks for responding!
Hi again! I'm now accessing on a Mac Air laptop. Can't get in through Safari. I can get in through Chrome. The main problem I have is that the Timeline is just plain sluggish. On Mac iPad Mini, it is impossible to scroll to the latest entry on the Timeline. I have to press and hold very hard and then drag, without letting up pressure, to get to the very last entries. On the Mac Air laptop, the click and drag doesn't work in Chrome. It simply pops back and forth between the first entry and the next entry. Or it says "Inspect Element". Or it tries to create a field for capture or edit. I don't have a PC to compare the features to my Mac devices. It may also be that I am using a mobile hotspot over 4G LTE with towers that are far away, so my connection isn't always the most speedy. Everything else is super! Thanks for a great app/website.
I use this to track my four year old daughter's pain. It would be nice to have a version for kids as she can't tell me what her pain feels like. She also weighs under 45 lbs and the profile ask for a weight of 45 lbs and above.
rearrange the pain colors so that the red is the unbearable one and the maroon be 1 level down. also have a separate color for numbness. I have pain in my entire body thanks to a auto accident and over the years I have developed areas that are painful then go numb. example my left arm entire neck and shoulder are in constant pain. sometimes with all the nerve damage my arm will hurt but my hand gets tingly then numb, that numbness can last up to 6 hours. I think we need a numbness color especially for people who suffer from diabetic neuropathy!!
I've just lost my previous post before I had a chance to submit it, illustrating my point about the sluggishness off the app.
So here goes again.
I think this is a great app overall. Some areas for improvement:
Date and time entries: Most times I have to change times and dates several times before they 'stick'. When I turn to the main entry screen the default date is unchanged. Perhaps a calendar pop up with the time selection option below rather thang the scroll bars might be more user friendly.
Third area for improvement: Zooming in to the image where you indicate the areas where your pain is doesn't allow you to scroll around the magnified image. You have to go out and reselect an area and zoom in again. It would be good to be able to move the zoomed image to allow you to choose different areas to paint your pain.
I have been having trouble with the date and time selection on the app. I find that I have to put in multiple entries because it doesn't want to change am/pm or the date, so extending the time on the last entry doesn't work properly.
I have had time and date problems sometimes. what I have done is do my pain entry in the afternoon then evening. this way it shows how ALL my meds work with the pain. if I forget and the pain has been the same for a few days like it's been since Wednesday and my meds have had no affect I just do 1 entry and change the time from when I got up till 11:55 pm but I do the pain entry the following day or at night for the whole day and night!
I also think that since we can zoom in on areas we sound be able to make notations on our highlighted areas. like when I Mark my back unbearable there are spot in my lumbar that shot through part of my hip and effect my leg in the front, or when I highlight my knees I can put that my knees give way but a few moments before that the triples. I still like the page for the comments but I thinks the comments should be with the body picture.
Thank you all again for your valuable inputs. Here are some more questions or replies:
@araldia: You can draw over a marked area with another color and thereby choose another intensity. In the pain chart it will show the color you draw last.
@UHElle: We have planned to integrate an option to set yourself reminders. At the moment you can purchase an ad-on for the smartphone version of CatchMyPain to be reminded about medication intake and you will get a notification from us if you haven’t logged your pain for four days, unless you have set a lower frequency for the reminder.
@Louise: This should not be sluggish. Please try to zoom in on the timeline by a two-finger pinch, meaning two fingers that are at the same time on the screen and that slide in opposite directions (not up and down together). Once you have zoomed in you can move the whole chart to the left and right by using just one finger. The same is true for the computer. If you do not use a mouse but rather the touchpad with your fingers and you use two fingers, it might understand it like a right mouse click and therefore show you “inspect element”. Does this solve your problem? Otherwise please contact us by mail over firstname.lastname@example.org.
@morrgin: Could you please further specify what you feel would need to be adapted? Giving an option for less weight is now on our wish list. We are thinking about body models for the pain that are not adult bodies. Would there be anything else? And what do you mean by “categorize”? What do you want to categorize?
@kitch: To find the “load as template” button, go to the list of all pain entries, tap on the one you would like to use and then you see in the top right corner three buttons, one of them saying “load as template”.
@brooklyn: Would you like to further specify what is a pain about it? This way we could take your input and possibly improve it.
@richinfl and CACampbell: Thank you, we put your input to our wish list. And specifically @richinfl: What exactly is the problem you experience with the date and time? Can you not change it to “am”? Could you please write us an email to email@example.com and specify and also write, on which device you are using CatchMyPain, so we can have a deeper look into the problem?
@chezza: First area of improvement: If the time selection does not work well it helps to scroll to the correct time and just tap on it again, so it will kind of lock it there. But we will of course try to improve this problem. Second area of improvement: It opens if you tap on a topic and it might sometimes react a bit slower because it automatically loads the next topics for you. There you would just need to scroll carefully in order for that not to happen, at the moment. But we are aware now of this issue, thank you. And concerning going back to the place where you were in the community: use the back button rather than clicking on the community icon in the side bar. Third area of improvement: you should be able to move when having zoomed in: while being zoomed in, move the body model by using two fingers to drag it to the point where you like.
@gotobef: Do we understand correctly that when you edit an existing pain entry and you, let’s say, first had a time frame that was in the morning and you then want to extent it to go into the evening, the app won’t let you? If so, could you please write us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know, on which device you are using the app. If we did not understand correctly, please specify also in an email. We would like to have a deeper look into this problem.
Hopefully we could help everyone with a specific issue and otherwise feel free to contact us again. For personal support you can always use email@example.com. Thank you also for the good inputs and ideas and we look forward to get more.
Thank you for the tips regarding date selection, and zooming and moving the image. It could just be me, but I find two-fingered moving awkward and would prefer to be able slide the image with one finger. It would be interesting to hear whether other users have an issue with this. I've tried it and the important thing is it works. Perhaps I'll get used to it in time. I hadn't noticed the back button at the typo of the page! Works like a dream. :-) Thank you again. I really do appreciate your quick and helpful responses.
I agree, something to monitor the sleep cycle. I know my pain has intercepted my sleep going on six months, and I still have one more treatment...anyway the end result is still a new knee. I really like his pain chart app, adding a sleep cycle monitor would be perfect.
I agree to make the Timeline move with one finger. I often have cramps in my hands and two-finger pinch-and-drag hurts. I'm not sure if it is the iOS on the iPad and Mac Air, possibly not "talking" to the OS of the app and website.
Hopefully you will get used to the two-finger pinch for zooming, because the moving afterwards is done by one finger and the two actions need to be clearly differentiable in order for the touch screen to "interpret" them correctly. In other words, it would be very challenging to find two movements that are different enough with just one finger. We will be thinking about different colors for different sources of pain. But generally we have planned to give an option to specify different sources or types of pain (or similar feelings like numbness). This will however take a moment. Thank you all once more for your inputs and it is also very valuable to see, which problems/issues several of you encounter and where many of you would put an emphasis. Best regards, your CatchMyPain team
I would also agree with the idea of being able to record sleep in number of hours or sleep From and To and be able to plot the number of hours on the graph. There is one issue with the graph I noticed. When I load a previous entry as a template, there seems to be an error with the graph in how it represents the colour total. For example, I load an entry that had some Agony pain locations as a template, I edit the Location diagram where there are now no Agony locations and when I see it plotted on the graph a day later, the graph still shows that there is some agony locations.
When viewing the pain entry, make it possible to see front and the back of the body for multiple entries so when you show the doctor you don't have to click on individual entry to view the back of the body.
It would be nice to have a search function in the community. Also have problems with slow scrolling, random posts opening when I'm scrolling and being sent to the top of the post listing after viewing a post.
@CAC: We were trying to reproduce the problem you are describing with the "reload as template" and the pain chart, but the problem did not appear. Does this problem always appear for you or did you notice any pattern, when it happens? Are you completely sure that you do not have any agonizing pain color anymore in the image after editing it, also not on a different perspective? Please write us to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your help. @swiderski: Do you know the "send to email" function on the main screen? There you can send yourself or your medical care provider access to your pain diary and there you see all the pain entries from all angles. @imaigne: Thank you for the input with the search function, we will definitely put it on our wish list. For the scrolling problem, please see the answer above to chezza.
I'd love to see a reference guide because often people speak about conditions or use letters I don't understand. Also a common pdr type function would be nice as people often reference drugs I've never heard of.
An option for inflammation would extremely help. Also, if we could pin-point where the inflammation is just like how we can show where our pain is on this application would be beneficial as well. Thank you
it would be great to be able to record sleep on the graph. I have shown this app to my gp and have found it very useful. but I have memory problems and when asked what my sleep pattern was like at different times I couldn't remember. it would help if I could log this aswel as happiness, stress etc. I have also found that on days when I can't record my pain due to being in to much pain or sleeping through certain days or when I've had no internet, the app has recorded that I have had x amount of pain free days. why? this is not a true account.
Hello and thanks for your feedback again - We have blocked the user that didn't respect our community rules. His posts and topics will shortly also be removed. - A function to search within the community is already on our roadmap and might make it into one of the next releases. Keep posting your ideas about the community but also concerning CatchMyPain as a diary. thanks a lot
Hi, I saw in the iPhone version (I could only find the free version there), that you could enter your medicines. Why not in the iPad / pro version? And the synchronisation beween these two versions are not optimal... could you look into this? thanks! I just discovered this app, I am diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and finally I found an app that suits my needs... thanks!
i am finding that it takes me a long time to colour the diagrams each time especially if you are doing multiple entries each day with lots of detail. I am required to record how well the medications are working so it requires many entries and because of the pain in my arms and hands, its becoming very difficult for me to do this kind of detail so much. Using the templates helps a lot but it still takes me 15 to 20 minutes each entry.
Is there anyway the diagram can be more intuitive, ie, when you fill in colour on the front and rear views that it interpolate the side views which can be edited if need be?
A better editor in the community area would be helpful. I'm not the grammar police, but auto cap after a period and other such conveniences would be a helpful addition to those of us who have difficulties typing on an iPad.
If there was a way to edit the list of "descriptions" that would be great. i dont use all of them and scrolling down to the bottom for one i use often can be annoying (anything annoying seems to add to my pain) i like the idea of sleep tracking. would you also consider adding 1 or 2 custom fields/sliders (where you enter stress and fatigue), one of my custom fields would be "IBS-diahrrea to constipation" for example. thanks :)
I do find it a bit irritating when I press the Back button and it doesn't really take you back to the last page you were on. If you are in Pain Entries and you choose an entry on any page except for page 1, and then you press Back, it takes back to Page 1 rather than the page you were working from. Pressing the Back button should truly take you back to the last screen you were on.
Also, it would be better that when you press the Finish button after completing an entry, that it take you to a summary of that entry rather than to the home page so that you can double check the entry, especially being able to see the Pain Intensity in numeric form.
it would be really useful to be able to print for example a months pain chart so I could take it to the pain clinic instead of dragging my tablet or like an overlay of all the pain I had in a month and colour coded to how often it's in the same place! I think the pain score should be numbers instead of the slide bar as that is just guessing!!
I would like I section were I could type in a note about my pain so I could explain I little more than just a colored in section and a time frame. I've been having pain in the same area but is not always the same
i wasn't sure about the community feature being useful to me when it was first introduced. but I must say I really like it! I'm relativity new to the world of chronic pain and it's good for me to see how "good" I have it and also to feel less alone. when I first tried to leave a comment on this thread I could not scroll down far enough to get to the comment box because it kept adding more comments just when I went to click on it. what if we could reply to original posts right from the top then scroll down to see other responses? I liked the idea someone else had for topical categories or maybe the ability to tag your own original post with certain tags so someone can search for specific issues later. maybe start with the most common conditions to get it going? I'd also like to be able to see an optional personal profile of other posters when I click on thier names.
I would agree with Tracey, being able to export the graph to pdf and being able to print it would be very useful. I know you can do a print screen then paste it and then print it but thats a bit messy to crop etc.
I would like to be able to cut and paste while in this forum and on the comments section of the entry form.
A section for adding notes for the day. while I like the option to write notes in the pain section I would really find it useful to have a notebook that just adds a new note by the day. This way I can give an overview of how my day went and what happened that changed things. I could mention any fibrofog issues or level of fatigue throughout the day more easily. I also agree that tingling and numbness options would help. The extra note system instead of just the entries in helpful for me because my pain is rotating throughout my body and I don't have time to enter every episode. This way I can just check in a couple of times a day and also have an overview for the varying pain.
Adding medication and sleep tracking would make this app almost perfect. It's extremely helpful to know 'I took A or B medications and my pain is now X.' Same thing with sleep. Also, providing a way to track different pain conditions would be great. For example, I have chronic abdominal pains, migraines and back pain. It would be great to track those individually in some fashion. That would make the app spectacular.
I would also like to be able to mark pain locations while laying down as this differs for me greatly while lying flat. also changes in weather/temperature affects my pain and it would be ideal if I could mark this in some way. anything that would make it easier for me to record things as I often can't type much due to pain in hands. I sometimes have to leave making entries due to not being able to move my fingers and often find after just a few presses on the keypad I can't do anymore due to pain shooting up and down my arms. anything to make it easier to record entries on a daily basis.
Using this app on a laptop is more of a pain than the versions for the iPad and iPhone. I really don't understand why all the versions are so different (ie. the iPhone app has the medicine record, and the iPad app doesn't). The laptop version also does not allow me to record "Pro" version options. How many times do I have to buy Pro anyway? I already bought it for the phone and the iPad. I guess the solution is to edit the record on another platform to get those options. It's an irritating work around.
For some reason, scrolling down in the forums on the laptop is very twitchy. I had to work to get to the bottom of this thread so I could comment. I would scroll down, and the display popped back up. It wasn't until I used two fingers on the touchpad and held one down while moving the other to scroll that I got here. Tricky finger ballet for someone with arthritic hands. ;)
I'm using a MacBook Pro. The app is least useful on this platform, and most useful on the iPhone. I think that's weird.
BTW, I agree that the forum editing abilities are lame (sorry for that term, but that's how I feel about it) for the reasons already mentioned above.
Thank you for your app and for continued development. People with chronic pain need this type of utility! Regards, lbravo
@lbravo: Thanks for your feedback. We have sent you a message via email.
@emsgirl24: Logging your medications on tablet and desktop is on our wishlist and will come sooner or later. In the meantime you can already record your medication intakes on the iPhone and Android smartphone version of CatchMyPain.
I would like to be able to add hours of sleep and some type of rating scale of the quality of sleep (restless, insomnia, interrupted sleep...). I am interested in having the option of being able to enter it manually not just have the ability for the app to monitor my sleep.
I'd also love the option of adding when I'm menstrating and how heavy the flow or spotting... I find that during this time my pain (or tolerance) is affected tremendously. It would be helpful to see if there was really a correlation and what type of pain or area of the body is more affected.
I'm glad I can add my meds on the iPhone app. I wish it was available on the iPad. is there a way that on the daily summary it can have a note of the meds I took that day? if I took any over the counter along with prescription? (not sure if it's already there, just recently got the iPhone app). I had a major reaction to meds and that would be helpful to keep track of. as well maybe add memory loss to list of symptoms.
Thank you for taking into consideration our needs.
I can' access your diagnose text box. it keeps telling me the server is down. Also, I would like to track my sleep. I use a Fitbit & it would be useful to be able to transfer the data: sleep exercise etc to this app. it would be good to see correlation between pain/exercise/sleep.
I'm using iPad to make all of my entries and frequently get locked up when pain entries are loading. There must be something magical about 24% because that is where it gets continually stuck when loading pain entries. Otherwise I'm glad to have such a useful tool to record trends and take along with me to medical appointments.
hi. I like the iPad version the best so far. The desktop one doesn't play well with my Mac Air because the trackpad doesn't allow complete control. The iPhone version is too small for my old eyes and creaky fingers. :) The iPad version is just about perfect. The only problem Zimmer have is the Timeline Pinch and Zoom control. My hands hurt too much to control it. And it seems to lag a lot. I am running this over 4G LTE or just 4G. Thank you so much!
Loving this app. Being able to zoom in on different areas, like the hands, feet, or head would be good. I have a hard time drawing on the little fingers or part of the head without including the rest. Sleep and wake times would be good too.
Hi, just new to app. Think overall it's great. I know pain is subjective but often feel when choosing colour intensity I'd like something in between moderate and severe as that's how my pain feels most of the time.
Also can the app catch data to show over a period of time which areas of your body are experiencing the highest and or constant level of pain. Be good to have for the doctor.
Maybe something like the addition of pattern stamps to the diagram? Patterns like tiny circles, triangles, hatching, etc. to differentiate between sensations like pins and needles, aches, sharp pains, inflammation.
Also, I would love to see more sophisticated data analytics and sharing options. Especially the ability to export as PDF, as well as include/omit views (I often only fill in front and back views).
The addition of menstrual cycle tracking would likely help a lot of women find patterns that link to their menstrual cycle.
I absolutely enjoy using this app as my "Pain Journal". It does very well at tracking and documenting my pain so I can assist in my own health care management. I have enjoyed seeing the past upgrades and think the weather addition and mood tracking were excellent choices to add.
I think you want to use the location from where the person is reporting the pain. This could allow you to access the weather conditions such as barometric pressure, Low and High pressure areasor fronts, as well as any precipitation such as rain. This might help with some pain I'll be at not all. You might be able to learn from people's pain caused by these different weather conditions. Also, when entering information as to how happy someone is etc. make it show the stress and exhaustion level automatically. Currently, if someone does not slide the bar to the right and then back to left it doesn't show that any information was entered. Make the default zero.
I have a question... I paid extra and downloaded the stress and fatigue tracker on my phone. however it did not transfer to my iPad. It's asking me to pay again. Is there a way I can sync these as I use both devices to track my pain depending on where I am.
i would love to see nerve pain addition and the number scale also.i have been using the app for almost2 uears and have finally seen pain management clinic. they use number wcale wo it would be nice to be able to ise same scale and to be able to email them my entries to show them what gas been happening woth my pain
Hi, I am finding since the last update to include weather that 2 out of 3 times when I try to open this app on my tablet the app freezes during loading. Once it freezes it doesn't matter how much I close/retry the app won't open beyond the freeze point. The only way to fix is to completely uninstall the app and then reinstall. After doing that I can successfully open the app two, sometimes three times before I have the freezing problem again. Its driving me nuts! Is there a way to fix this please? Apart from that issue this is a great app.
I keep track of my medication intake. Can you put this option in the pro version for my tablet and also a print option. My doctor it tracking the way I take my medication for a possible placement of a pain pump.
Thank you all for your feedback. We are always interested in what we can do better.
In the meantime, the ability to track the weather has been added to CatchMyPain!
The other suggestions have been added to our our wish list, which we try to implement as soon as possible. As we are still a young startup we have to prioritize them a bit and cannot afford more developers.
We are aware of the fact that under certain circumstances, especially on older devices, the app may freeze. We are working on it. If the problem occurs, it often helps to completely close and re-open the app. If you encounter specific problems, you may also use the feedback function inside the app to contact our support directly.
In the tablet version of CatchMyPain it is possible to copy a specific pain entry to another time period by using the "Load as Template" function when inspecting a pain entry.
I just downloaded this and I was entering info from yesterday and when I was trying to select a time period like 11 pm to midnight which would be 12 am it kept saying end time must be after start time.
Is there a way to see what posts I have commented on? Still waiting for type of pain additions to be added rather than typing them in every time. Would also be nice if when you click on new pain entry if it brought up your last one that you could edit.
I just found a woman on here: same age as me, same Fibromyalgia diagnosis, same issues with meds. WHAT WOULD BE COOL, would be to have some way of being able to "chat" with that person, or have an inbox if that person what's to reply to you, maybe privately because this is the best support group I've seen but I'd like to stay in touch w the ppl that I'm connecting with. thanks!
Is it possible and I will pose this out to the other members of the community, would it be helpful, to have a section of folders on each medication we are taking to post our experiences? Rather than each of us making random comments in posts in different threads which scroll down and get lost in time. If there was a section we could go to, to discuss and share experiences research others information and perhaps even enable us to be more informed when attending our doctors what is out there and what has worked for others? Appreciate if this is not possible due to issues as being seen to promote or sponsor companies.
I definitely think it would be great to have a way to organize information, whether by drug and/or diagnosis would be fine, so we can cross reference. For example Gabapentin is prescribed for many of us with different ailments.
Yes to have a fixed site or section as well for medical conditions and enable us each to contribute and the same for medications. I mean I do like the current threads but we either often repeat information as people join it would be helpful or miss information as the thread may not be relevant to our diagnosis.
Be nice to track my own posts? Like which threads I've posted on and therefore which ones I should check for others responses and contributions, where I could further respond? As between my pain and meds my memory isn't what it used to be, help me help others and myself clearly?
I agree with BK7, being able to track your threads would be nice. Now that there are so many users, your thread disappears down the list really fast and its hard to see if your post has had any replies.
Thanks for all your feedback again. We are always reading in here what ideas you suggest. We plan to add more features to the community soon. Filters, search, viewing own threads and last posts and many more are already on our list.
I think that if you added in a category for sleep cycles with and without meds, how many times you are up through the night and if anything helps would be wonderful. Most of us folks with fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions have difficulty achieving REM Sleep which is the restorative sleep we ALL need to function. I think it would be helpful for the patient AND the doctors treating them some valuable input in their treatment.
Love most of the application the weather feature is great. We all have more pain with weather changes. I bought the application and I still cannot use happiness/ stress/ fatigue feature is that another seperate purchase?
Went on the app today to report my pain and I seem to have this issue frequently. I have wifi in my home, so I should not be incurring this problem. Everything works fine until I get to the section to log in the time period of my pain. Mine is ALWAYS more than 12 hours, so I manually log it in. And this is where I run into the problem. Ten out of twelve times the app freezes. I am not doing anything wrong to my knowledge. It just freezes, quite frustrating. I love the app, am able to share with my doctors and encourage others in the community as they do me. If we could fix this minor issue I wouldn't mind paying for some of the upgrades.
I think this is the best app I have ever used on my tablet!!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I wish it had is more room to write in the comments portion on the bottom of all entries. Sometimes I have lots to say or type......but if I type too much it is not disable. I am aso using a journal, t make up fr not having the space here. I tink it would be cool to have like a small journal area, but I still LOVE this app, even if the journal thing doesn't ever come!!! GREAT WORK ON THE APP....WILL DEF HELP WHEN I GO SEE MY FIRST SPINAL DOC!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HAD WORK!!!!! 5 STARS FROM ME!!!
I would love to have a better legend, like a pattern design to use on color chart to incorporate tingling, numbness, cramping, and all the other different pains so we can mark the type of pain along with the severity of it directly on the body.
I would love a private messaging feature for between users. A better legend because my pain is severe and very severe all over but it varies very very slightly. A community for people worth the same condition as well as a general one would also be nice. I'll add more later
Thanks for a lot of your feedback. - We will think about a private messaging function or at least to give you a possibility to add your personal email to your community profile. So those who want, can publish it, those who don't like remain anonymous.
- diagnoses: we rely on external service, that sometimes doesn't work well. Sorry for that, we try to find a better solution. Most of them cost a lot, which is not ideal for us.
@FlappysLady: At least on large clients (Tablet and Desktop) there is an undo/redo function. We didn't have enough screen space to add it to the smartphone version as well.
Reecebrowne1, do you not use the copy function when you start a new entry every time? I open the previous entry and use the copy function and it copies the entire previous entry with the new date and time automatically entered. I then adjust the pain diagram to whatever changes I am feeling and then change the comments and any other relevant information in the other sections.
I do agree with you regarding the pain intensity sliding scale, it should give you the number when using it, or the option to turn on or off the function of having the number showing on the intensity scale.
When I want to add a description of symptoms, like spasms or drawing tight, etc, it would be great if I didn't have to repeat that process every time. Why can't the system remember phrases of description? It disappears on my phone or tablet, so its not "phone" like y'all said about something else.
I am sure some of these have been listed but my migraine blurs my vision so I apologize if I repeat a suggestion. My wish list for this app are below. Also I use this app on a tablet. 1. Medication list or notepad in app to list items 2. Be able to reply to other users privately 3. Be able to follow a partical post with maybe a follow/like button 4. Be able to view weather patterns to see if there are triggers. 5. Be able to condense pain graph to see average daily pain too and a quick view by week or month chart that is easier to so doctor. 6. A big L and R on diagram of body to avoid confusion on left/right sides as there are 4 views 7. Be able to change your user name for more privacy...I do not normally post replies for privacy reasons..it's a small world 8. Add friends to a friend list 9. Calender so you can note appointments and maybe reminders 10. A phone or address list to organize all your different doctors contact information
So far I love this app...I actually use it..after a day or two I would always give up on my handwritten journal. I am glad I purchased this app and would highly recommend it to others.
In the community forum it would be nice if you added a notification feature (similar to LinkedIn) where the user can see what threads they commented on had a response or reply added. It would also be nice to be able to filter the response down by date range or other fields to limit the number of posts displaying on a single page. It is a pain to scroll through all of them. Finally when a user is navigating back to the forum page after adding a comment to a post it would be nice if the user was taken back to the place in the list of posts where they left off. Again a pain (literally) to scroll down over and over. My wrists are throbbing now from all the scrolling. Thanks for asking, it is appreciated! And so rare :-)
Thank you for all your feedback which really helps us to improve the app. A lot of your ideas are already on our to-do list from other users, physicians and doctors. We try to implement as many as our resources allow it.
@KrazyKatKrazyKat and @kcostek The developer team is currently working on a new community feature to filter for topics where you have already been active. This will simplify the overview of interesting topics.
I would consider including pinions and/observations of spouses and or other significant personnel. Further, there should likely be a section that determines the effectiveness of any medications being taken as it relates to prescription for the intended target Malady. Another helpful diagnostic tool may be a graph that places physical activity that is quantified in that graph form-this would greatly aided in healthcare practitioners a valuations in the overall presentation. Further, a quantitative measurement system that could possibly include targeted movement such as range of motion for a particularly affected limb or body area. The application would have to have established guidelines as opposed to allowing the patient to create suspect measurement areas and or percentages. Dr. Nathan to Davis, program participant.
Hi,thanks for this great app!I think, you should add a reply sector on the left.It will be more easier to find the topic where you have written something. For example i wrote this feedback in this topic, then, for example, tomorrow i can find this topic in reply sector on the blue bar.Sorry for my english)))
1. The ability to edit your own post. Many of us use our smart phones and oops see a typo after we hit reply. 2. The ability to add to our own description terms and keep it. Right now you can add but it does not stay there for the next day ect. 3. Search by Topic or by User Post. 4. Message users privately.
I would like to be able to indicate numb areas and when they occur, for my doctor. Maybe a different color? I just use yellow now since it's so rare for me to have the lowest level pain. I would also like to be able to export my files to PDF so I can send them to several sources at once: 2 dr's, LTD (work benefit), and Social Security Disabilty. One day for the link to expire is too fast for my dr's to get to it in time. Thanks!!!
So many good ideas! Like Nippet, I would like more colors. My pain has been increasing from when I started dealing with pain, even from when I began using this app. I use that yellow Nippet uses only for me it's the next level of pain. And since that changed over the last few weeks, I've started layering. A nice color wheel or block that allows us to color coordinate (hey - even in pain a girl has to be fashionable)? I like do many of the ideas presented, I second most of them. Someone mentioned using an actual numerical scale for pain as opposed to the slider? I actually like the slider - for me it's too easy to just hit 10 all the time. Maybe we could have the choice? I know it's a lot of work but what if some more individual options, like tracking sleep & joint stiffness, a bathroom chart of some kind for those of us "blessed" with IBS, a way to track swelling for those with edema, something to keep track of exercise - that would be a good one. There are so many things that you can do with this app. I do know that I would be quicker to purchase add ons if there were more. And off you add them you could offer them a-la-carte for like 99¢ or $1.25 each. THAT would be amazing!
Whatever you add, this is still a 6 star app. I'm even trying to get my less than tech savvy mom to try it. Keep up the good work!
Oh! How about something like Facebook has where you get notified when someone mentions your "name"? Then we would know if a reply posted on the community site is actually targeting us as individuals. I don't mind reading what everyone has to say, but I tend to check posts that use my name much faster. Don't like to keep anyone waiting.
@Nippet: you can setup the export link to be valid for 30 days. Choose within the dialog where you also add the recipients email.
@Many above: The next version will add a better overview over topics, so that you can find your own and such that you posted in quicker. We will also introduce something similar to facebook's "like" feature. Stay tuned!
And to be able to show my consultant. I was told last time I was on the site, I needed to update the app. I've done that, but can't see any pain entries after the 29 th january........very frustrating. I think a better questions and answer section would be good, to help iron out these problems by the app users. Also a touch symbol to print the daily chart. Hope that helps, also that someone will be able to help me with my chart and missing info:-))
Take out the pain image graphics from postings - I'm not defined by my pain and I hate the idea of a 'suffering Olympics'.
I use the app only for short periods for therapists and/or doctors, lose the daily reminders to enter pain, it makes matters worse: constant pain needs no reminder!
Apropos the last para, yet to find any medico prepared to spend much time reviewing copious notes on pain, so linking additional or increased pain to events would be a very helpful feature in my opinion.
Noting paraesthesia would be very helpful.
Other than that, I personally don't like something that encourages people to swap pain and healthcare inadequacy through an in built message board. IMHO, people with constant, debilitating pain need real, face to face support routes. I don't need opportunities to remain excluded and isolated (the internet promotes isolation, it doesn't reduce it), swapping tales of woe on the interweb.
Sorry if any of this offends any community member, not my intention but, for me, when I surrender to the extent of choosing to spend too much time noting pains nature and spread, it wins and I lose.
Catch my pain is a tool - and a profit and/or research generating product for its creators - not the answer. In short, operate this app and its 'community' with empathy and a desire to assist people living with pain, not as another way of sub summing their identities to a list of symptoms and subjective pain measures.
As I read others posts, I would love to be able to "highlight" their suggestions, and then those suggestions go into a personal "notepad" on my app for me. Having the fibr-fog, its hard to remember everything. Could you do a notepad/highlight thing?
I was thinking about a few things for the community board: A way to "tag" someone you may be replying too so that a conversation can go on if needed/wanted and you don't have to scroll through the entire list of responses to see if someone responded to you.
Also, maybe making different boards? Maybe a Newbies board, specific pain afflictions board, medications board, etc. thanks for all your work!
Firstly thanks for the app, this is really helping me to visualise and remember how I've been!
I know that diet and sleep affect my pain, but the ability to track my sleep would be especially useful. I would also like to be able to track my meds so I can see how changes in dose or tablets affect me and how frequently I use break thru and occasional meds.
The terms used for mild, moderate severe pain etc are also quite subjective as there is no descriptor to really quantify them. This would help so that when I speak with medical professionals they are clear on my actual meaning.
Somewhere to track medical appointments would be useful, as would the ability to track any complementary therapies and other activities such as meditation / exercise which I also do to help manage my conditions. These would be useful when needing to supply evidence of condition management and also to see how various things affect change.
Again many thanks and please do keep developing this wonderful tool
@alwayzinpain: You have buttons for a quick selection of the time frame going up to 12h, but you can also adjust the time frame yourself by adding beginning and end (right underneath). There you can choose also longer time frames.
@daisygirl: Please contact us over the feedback button in the app (or write directly to email@example.com) so we can have a look why you are not able to see your last pain entries.
@Jed: You can adjust the frequency of the notifications or turn them completely off in the settings of the app.
@Madbynature: You can track your medication already on the smartphone version of CatchMyPain on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
We are currently working on a way that the topics you are involved in will remain on the top of your list and you will not have trouble to find them again. It is coming soon! And if you use CatchMyPain on the computer, it is already available.
A calendar, a movement tracker, printing as PDF, showing numbness, tracking sleep and many others of your ideas are already on our wish list and the others we have gladly added. Thank you for pointing out what is important to you, it will help us to prioritize what comes next.
It would be great if we could load a previous pain drawing on the phone apps like we can on the iPad app! My pain is very similar from day to day and it gets tiresome to have to redraw it every time! It is nice to just adjust a previous drawing, but I don't always have my iPad with me.
WOW.... I just learned something new!!! I never knew you could do that. I get tired of doing the coloring as well and now I can just copy a previous one and move along to be here in the community chatting instead of playing color forms.... LOL 😊
Please develop whatever is needed so the "updates" stop removing my purchased add-ons. Every time there are updates this happens. Its frustrating! I have used the add-ons since September 2014, when I purchased them.
Oregonhomestead, I think the flag is if you see something offensive or against the rules of the app you choose the flag. Then the CMP techs check it out and remove the post if necessary. At least that's how the flag works on other apps, its like "hey, look at me now!" The heart is if you like a post, I think. But if I'm wrong then its my fibro brain misfiring! Lol
This application has been great for me. I would like to be able to coordinate or link to my blood sugar and food journal apps. I don't like having to add the same descriptive words every time. I would like to be able to personals the list. Medical history would be a great additional along with treatments. I read through some of the other suggestions some great ones. Thanks for asking and this is so very helpful to me because I also have a traumatic brain injury and don't always remember what my pain has been and I also forget some words so thank you very much.
I am loving this app with a few minor fixes which I believe are on the wish list this would be perfect. I track a lot in the notes and that helps give more of an overview of my pain than clicking the buttons. Also shows my brainfog. Thanks for a great app and continuing to improve. Also glad to be part of the community.
I'm new to the application so I'm still learning about it. An option to document weakness in an area and also spasms would be helpful. I think this app is going to make communicating with my doctors much easier. Thank you!
I just read through a couple posts and saw a person ask to have blood sugar link. I was going to ask about a blood pressure link. Maybe there could be a drop down list for the type of measure you would like to link with pain report.
I track my by on a different app and have noticed that I have enough bad pain days it brings my bp high enough to to keep me in stage one hypertension. Would be nice to have a graph of them both to show doctor.
Something just clicked! And of course now I feel like a total idiot. So, blood pressure goes up with pain? No wonder mine is all over the place! Yes it would be nice to track that in correlation with the pain!
It would be nice to be able to copy a post. I have a journal of sorts I keep on my iPad. Sometimes others will post a poem or something that I would like to save in it, but I am unable to copy and paste it from the community into my journal.
Accessing the app and the community page from my iPhone recently, throws up an error message of 'unable to connect to the server' etc., it happens every time no matter where I am and no matter what wi-fi source I'm connecting to. Is this an issue your end or mine?
@ deena26, I get that message on my droid ultra a lot too. I usually hit my "return to previous page" arrow at the bottom of the phone and then its ok when I go forward. We may not have the same ability to fix it, but we both get the same message.
Hi Flappy. I resolve it by clearing my cache memory stored on phone and re accessing the app, it's just a little more protracted now than it was. It might be down to the amount of users I suppose. I didn't get it before. I'm assuming it's a gremlin their end then, as you are having a similar issue. Thanks for your feedback :)
I really liked how you could zoom in, and it got me thinking that if you could select an area of the body by coloring it in and have a little line pointing at the area of the body with a description of the pain. I think it would allow us to convey more specifically where hurts, and how badly. The color scheme to rate pain is great but it gives a really broad explanation of what hurts and by the time you get to the end, I personally find it more difficult to do a run through of everything that hurts without having the pictures in front of me. Since my memory has gotten so "fuzzy" these past few years, I've become more of a visual processor. If it was possible I think it, or something like it would be a useful add on! To whomever makes this app possible, thank you for all your hard work!
I don't know how difficult this is or if there is enough of a market but a native app for BlackBerry would be nice, I have tried many times to upload medicine without success and I believe it is because I am use a side load for android
I think it would be great if there could be a private message function, where if you and another community member wish to speak to each other without the group and without any interference, that it can be done. Sometimes, you may have something that you have in common with another member and you want to discuss it with only them and ask questions and perhaps get personal information for yourself about an illness or a treatment. Also, change the time frame of the pain drawings. Add different time slots such as 24 hours it would be better than just having the option of the most time being 12 and having to update the drawing twice a day or be told in the app that you have has pain free time, when in fact, you haven't
I agree with Alwayz about the private message function! It would be cool if we could also have the option to make a public profile if we wanted to with some basic info available for other members to see.
@Alwayz - if you go to the times shown below the 2h,12h quick selections you can click on the start and/or end time and make a custom length pain entry.
Another good thing ephod be to be able to copy your pain drawing from one side (I. E. Left) to the other (i.e. Right) The option to add not colours with your own meanings would be nice (i.e. For Paraesthesia) To be able to change the block of colour to s different colour I. E. You have yellow for your whole left hand side being able to change it to red etc. With only a few clicks bit redrawing
It would be great if people commenting could have their location attached to their screen name or similar. I love reading and commenting here as it helps me, but I find it a little tricky when some discussion topics or suggestions of help etc are not available to me, or it's something which I don't know of due to different location, different country. Just an idea. Thx 😃 take care everyone..
once more we see here many good ideas: Measuring blood pressure or diet and other possible triggers, mark or copy posts in the community, private messages, location details in posts, customized colors for specific symptoms and added descriptions, and all the other great ideas are noted and on our wish list. Thank you very much for helping us improve the app and understanding what is important to you.
The descriptive words that you add yourself are automatically saved on the iPad and the computer. This is also planned for the smartphones.
@WesternCanadian: We apologize, but a native app for BlackBerry is currently not planned. Do you know however that you can use CatchMyPain also on the computer? Go with Chrome or Safari browser to https://my.catchmypain.com. However, medication intake is not available for the computer version, so you will have to keep on trying on the smartphone.
We are looking forward to get more feedback from you!
I believe that it would help if there was a way to pin point the actual spots that are hurting instead of using 3 different colors. (ie) My shoulders it is really hard to paint for the most pain, then the next level then the next level on forearm But on the hand have one for next to most painful on fingers and had next color down. It seems like it would be simpler to be able to label each exact spot and the level of pain you have. Thank you
I think the rate your worst pain slider is unneeded. If you use the colors effectively that is already answered. There are 5 colors I use each to represent 2 numbers on the pain scale. From 1/2 for the light color to 9/10 for the dark red.
Is there a way to print the meds tracker part of this app? It would be nice if that info showed up on each day. I am trying some new meds and trying to see how well they are working by looking at the time taken and my pain level before and during the time of the dosage
I hate having to scroll through every single comment to post one of my own!! Arg.
Ok. I love this app. And yes, I have suggestions other than the continual scrolling. 😁
I would like private messaging. Sometimes you and another user don't want to have every conversation public.
I would like to be able to add graphics or pictures. There was a poster that was confused about his where his injury was and why he hurt the way he did. I could have easily posted some easy to read graphics to help him understand.
I like the suggestion of a sleep chart. I sleep really out of sync than the rest of the world, and to see it would help me describe it to my medical team.
I thought that having the different colors/patterns was a good idea, then I remembered that you can augment your description in the next panel. Which I love, by the way. So many adjectives! Love that!
Can't think of anything more right now. Thank you for asking us our opinions like this.
Add sections for -stretching, exercise, working out -food tracking (pain association as well as pain respond to high pain and junk food eating)
-sleep (position, own bed or hotel
-ability to record an action and associate pain levels with it. So I lift something heavy and now my SI joints are very painful, or I stretch and I feel better. I should have an actions section where I do something and record or evaluate my pain. correlate what stretches fixed/helped which of the pain areas. -have a self set recurring timer to prompt you on your morning pain baseline to see if you have decreased or increased pain in the morning pain baseline. -if you don't add these I may build this myself so let me know if there is an interest in these features as this is what I need to manage my pain. I am not satisfied with living with it. I want to find what works to quiet it as much as possible with the least amount of meds. If I can increase certain actions and decrease my med intake then I am in control. If I can't then I know I need to take action with PT or doc. App needs to help me make these determinations more than just merely recording. Everyone I know in pain drives through the highs and lows of depression to I am going to fix this issue. Seeing results and correlating them with what I mentioned above helps me control or lessen that cycle.
I don't know if these have been suggested before because I only checked a few posts.
It's like some profile details. Right now when you look at someone you just see their pain body map. Maybe optional info like ages, diagnosis or such?
I also suggested somewhere else about having the body map zoom in on a location if pain is localized. I have a arm injury. It causes me a lot of pain but overall it's a small percent of my total body. I dunno maybe this is a silly self confidence request.
It wouthatd be nice to track the food I eat to see if it's related to pain or sleeplessness I'm having or possibly an allergy. Also I know my pain is often caused by stress. Is there anyway to add a category for stress related circumstances, like I'm having out of town family members coming and the closer that their arrival time gets here the worse I feel. Or maybe and entry that asks what is happening when the pain begins or what stressful circumstances are present when pain begins.
So far, I agree with many of the suggestions. For me , it's very important to keep track of the type of pain (burning, stabbing, throbbing, dull, achy, etc.) and numbness & tingling. I'm sorry if it was already suggested. Thank you for your hard work i really appreciate it.
Sitting here trying to keep the happy place thinking about some of our younger members onsite (I'm old as dirt byw) and a private message feature as has been discussed in the past may be a way for them to connect and create friendships aside from posting and feeling lonely... I'm not sure though if that would turn it into more of a "social media" site or not.... Maybe they could post their FB contact and that way others could friend them and they would know who they are before they accept it?? Just thinking
I was just thinking it would be nice to be able to go and share our e mail addresses, or phone # with others Maybe be able to sykpe with one another. But like Oregon said it would probably turn into a social media site and get away from what y'all are trying to do.
I got it Weez!!!! Add another tab (at a cost even) so one could Choose from the existing ones (new pain entry, medications, community, etc...) and have the option of "contacts" which could enable a Skype, FaceTime, email function. That way people could purchase and use it for direct communication with others in their CMP Contacts....
Hello and many thanks for all your nice ideas and suggestions
We are currently working on many improvements for the community. It might well become a "social media" for people with similar symptoms and at a later stage we also think of adding private contact options. Please stay tuned, we will send out invites as soon as we have something to show to you. All active community members will be informed.
I would love to see a direct message option, maybe a profile and even stuff to be a little more personalized. I think it would be good to be able to directly communicate to other me every about certain things instead of having everything broadcasted and it would be a great way to help everyone interact and advocate their pain together in a more personalized environment!
Is there something going on with the app? I haven't had any issues until the last few days...everytime time I try to make a pain entry the app closes and I have to start over only to have it close again
If you are participants of the test drive, go read my experience on that conversation with the CMP app. The CMP app no longer works at all on my phone, so I'm taking a hiatus until they fix it. Using this tablet takes longer and uses up more battery. I hope y'all get your problems fixed.
Fed up and done. This app has become completely useless as when I try to make an entry it closes. I see people saying it is the test version but I don't have the test version. This was a great app to this point. What ever has been done to create this mess should be undone
On the pain entry it would be nice if there was a little R or L I keep getting them mixed up like is it as im seeing it or as you are sounds insane i know but i have memory issues and its fusterating me thank you love this app
I haven't read all of the suggestions so this might be a repeat, so I apologize in advance. I have a few apps that exchange data like UP, Withings and Prep Pad and a few others. It can get time consuming entering data into each one but by using devices like UP and other tracking devices, we can better track how pain effects our sleep. My flares are always in the middle of the night and that shows in the number of time I wake up. Someone suggested noting where we are sleeping, which is an excellent idea.
I understand that air quality can make your body feel stiff and may even be a reason behind RA. Tracking food consumption is good if for no other reason than to make sure you are eating. When I'm in pain I will opt for a pain pill and sleep before food or exercise which just makes it worse.
I read a few suggestions about having the option of forming separate groups which can have its issues. Maybe allowing individuals to have their Facebook links available is an alternative option. Forming relationships and grouping is natural especially when there is a vast age range. But we should consider what those age ranges can offer each other in relation to our health conditions more than our personal interests.
I like the pain graph but it is a lot even with selecting/limiting items. What about having a monthly view like a calendar? I would like to be able to customize my calendar to show daily: pain number, activity level, happiness or mood options, weather and notes. When I have shown my physician the graph they do not take the time to appreciate the information. I think it is just too busy for them. I get better results when I rake in a calendar. Just a thought.
@ferretbandit which kind of entries do you refer to? Pain entries or posts in the community? - Pain entries can be exported with the "send to email" feature. - The community-topics are also available under http://community.catchmypain.com
It would be nice for those of us who experience the same pain patterns consistently to have a way to reuse that entry over and over - but be able to modify it if there are changes.
I know you can go to any pain entry and "copy" it... But it would be nice to have an easier way to do it than looking through old entries.
You could have an option when you set up your diagnoses etc to set a "base pain profile", then, on the pain entry page have a button to push that will import that like "base pain" or "profile" something like that.
I also use an app called MyFitnessPal where I track what I eat, any exercise, and my weight. It would be totally awesome if this could be like that too!!! It would also help with tracking triggers for those of us who have them.
With Fibromyalgia specific foods and exercises can trigger a flare..... but sometimes it is hard to pinpoint which ones trigger... If we could track what we eat and do on this app we may see patterns we might otherwise miss.
It would be really great if we could print our own comments in the community, like when we describe our symptoms to others. Maybe our own comments could be "flagged" by us and they would automatically save in the entries are for printing so doctors could see them with our pain charts. Like when we tag someone else's comment as a like (heart)... Place a pencil icon or something similar that would auto save to the pain entries. 🙏🌼
I think it would be really great if like on other social media programs there is a way to send a private message to someone that you may only want that person to know or to be able to use it to exchange phone numbers if we wish without everyone out there having your number. There are several people who have reached out to me and me to them and I would love the option to privately give them my phone number.
Having an undo setting. Sometimes I want to undo a mistake I draw on the body diagram but I don't want to erase everything. Also, being able to just swipe to the left to go back to the main page both in the community forum and on any of the other programs like pain chart. Hard sometimes to reach the arrow.
ChronicG : after you click done on any entry you can go back in and click edit at the very bottom of the page and just select the proper color and color right over the error. Hope that makes life easier.
1. Sort - it would be nice to be able to sort the topics by Date, Name of Topic Creator (Sort by, say, all topics created by AmieLeBlanc), etc. Which brings me to...
2. Filter - Choose from a range of dates, or only show topics created by a certain person.
3. The Search option - when u search, u should be able to choose whether to search for your keyword in the Title or the Body of the topic. Also should be able to use filters/sort.
4. Reply - it would be AWESOME if I could reply directly to someone instead of hoping they notice I replied amid new comments.
5. Private Messaging - as it has been said, this would be a nice option. I'm going to look for an PM app that might complement CatchMyPain in the meantime.
6. Save / Print / Copy - right now, the only way I can save a particular portion of a topic conversation is to take a screenshot using my phones camera (or however screenshots work lol). It would be nice to have at the top of each topic you open to have an option to print the whole thing out. I would also like to be able to select certain pats of conversations and either save them to my phone or copy the text to another program like Notes.
Addendum: I use both my cellphone and my iPad to access this app.
7. Profile - Clicking on the body drawing next to a persons name should bring up an actual profile of that person. We should be able to put into that profile (if we so choose), our name, our conditions, our medications, a little bit about us like hobbies or that we like animals or have a cat, etc, where we are from, and a little button that allows someone to PM the person whose profile your looking at. Obviously, any and all info provided would be optional.
In the section where you can select & add descriptions of your pain, it would be nice & more efficient if the symptoms, adjectives rhat I've added were saved in there until deleted. That way I don't need to reenter them every time. Also, in the description section at the end, whenever I get past a few lines of writing, it goes out of typing mode. So each new line, you have to click on the line again yo start typing, even if you're in the middke of the word. I notice it doesn't do that here. (I'm using an S6 Edge & 2014 Samsung Tablet) my previous phone did the same thing, yet I haven't seen others comment on that, so I don't know if it's just me.
I can't believe I forgot that! As ChronicPainSupport says having to remember the exact words I may have used another time to describe my pain instead of having had them save to the list is frustrating.
As I was reading through messages I realized I'd like to click a symbol of support rather than a heart, denoting "like" what was said. Can y'all create a "circle of joined hands" or anothe icon to denote support? It would be awesome!🙏🌼
I just downloaded this app today, so I am still learning. I do agree with many that there should be a way to track sleep (both quantitative and quality).
In addition, I would like to see a daily weight tracker. I've noticed that my symptoms are worse when I have apparent swelling, which tends to be the days my weight fluctuates the most (maybe due to diet). It might be difficult to track diet to changes in pain, but I think weight would be pretty easy to track. Just a thought I hadn't seen mentioned.
Also, I'd love to see a way to private message another and/or a Facebook link on the profile page so that personal communication can still take place, but elsewhere (so this doesn't become more social and less tracking of pain).
Last, I'd love to see a different color on the body page to indicate regions of non-pain symptoms (swelling, numbness, weakness, etc.). Maybe one color that the user can personalize what it means (they're main complaint/symptom).
I am loving this app so far. It's been fairly easy to learn and use. I understand it is still a young app and I think you guys are doing a great job so far!
I am disabled from having migraines that would kill an elephant and having had a stroke then two TIA's and taking birth control when younger, and still after hysterectomy, in spite of having monthly (sometimes bi-monthly) trigger point injections and occipital nerve blocks, botox and weekly physical just to manage pain I have ended up with fibromyalgia as a bonus.
I pondered offering my thoughts because I know they sound bitchy, however you did ask. A great majority of the time, I am on ice just to numb the pain in my head and the light on the screen flickering is an annoyance at best, as well as the little numbers that show up for my mail or apps. I prefer to keep them caught up, but with this app it is *never* possible because the minute I do, it is filled immediately because people post on the forums. Sometimes, it's nice to check- but the majority of the time, for me, it is not. I have been in pain since I was 13, and save going to a witch doctor, I have tried pretty near everything but cryogenics and I don't want to look at every post people do. What would I like?
1- The [option] for the forums. 2- The numbness category 3- The tingly category
I use the application to show my doctors or send to my doctors and access the forums when or if I need to. Right now, this application is basically making the forums a forced issue and I am not comfortable with that. While some find it comforting, even I might one day, today is not that day, nor has it been the last year or so. Since I cleared it and wrote this, 3 more has posted and the number has gone back up, is there a way to make it an [option], so that it's not sending push notices and making it show like this? Thank you
Make it so when someone directs something in a thread it attaches to the comment not just the topic sometimes it is hard making it through cross talk and this way it would be easier to follow basically a reply to comment
great app, thanks for all your hard work. I would love to see a feature to record other symptoms probably connected to pain, e.g. diarrhoea, menstrual cycle, vomiting, etc. it could be a tick list like the pain description words
I've been experiencing a glitch when inputting my pain, the color I'd already put on the person will disappear and I'll have to do it all over. Otherwise this is a beautiful app that has given me a voice I hadn't found before. Thank you. The graph is the best part and the versatility is amazing. Thank you.
UK meds would be good. I currently can't find my Humalog insulin on the list so I've manually input it but it doesn't really match what happens as I'm on an insulin pump so I'm drip fed insulin throughout the day and only take more insulin if eating. I know there are other apps for diabetics and this isn't meant for that but my blood sugars often determine how good/bad my symptoms are. So maybe a way to link it to the iPhone Health app would be good?
I'm sure this has already been said, but it would be GREAT to have a place to record how I feel, as in mood and emotions, instead of just a smiley or sad face. Even if it's just a checklist, like the one for physical pain.
It would be great if, when we choose "I learned something" it would flag that comment so we could go to a "Learned" folder to research it further. With fibro fog & memory loss issues, it's hard for me to remember these things. Can CMP & PC create a folder for each of us like this, similar to our "entries" folder? 🙏🌼
The guy that Cearea is speaking of had also disparaged members of the community, used vulgar and sexually suggestive language and really doesn't have a place here. He needs to be blocked. There are other posts under another thread where he called us garbage and said we were all sick addicts and such. Please get him out of here. Thank you.
This has probably been said already, and my apologies if I'm being repetitive, but can the profile diagnosis section could be updated to allow the user to add a diagnosis if it's not in the community databank? For instance, I have been diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome, but that dx is not in the community databank.
Well, because our community is growing, it would be cool to have a system of blocking people if they are harassing others every chance they get. We just got a taste of a single person being horrible to others, which, even in grief, cannot be fully justified.
As we grow, we'll likely get more people joining here, and with a majority of us being older, we have to have something to avoid scammers.
I primarily use the Pain Companion app for the chat forum. Others using the CMP app started they had flagged someone's threads for vulgar out harassment. There isn't a "flag" ability in the PC app. It would be nice to have that, with apopup window that goes to the app administration where a msg could be posted as to why it was flagged. 🙏🌼
We will improve filtering and blocking of inappropriate content and users soon. Users whose post get reported several times will directly be blocked to stop them even earlier. We will announce this again as soon as its ready. best regards and thanks all of you to report back, this shows us again, that this community really works like a good family.
For those who take meds as and when avoiding clashes and acedential over dose can be very hard when tired drugged up and in pain some feature to help with that like a timer on as and when meds so you no when you can take more or even clash detection or reminders they need taking with food maybe ??
Thank you so much for creative nag this app, it is very helpful. The 2 things I would like to see are 1) a way to indicate type of pain on the picture of man/woman that I color to indicate pain intensity. I would like to over lay the color with @*+#~ to indicate burning, stabbing, etc. I think if it was all in one spot it would be easier for my doctor to see my pain. Most MD appointments are time limited and anything that helps my Doc get the info would be great. If there was a way to put the graphic, number of breakthrough doses taken, sleep quality that day, stress level that day, and triggers all on one page that could be printed out daily would be great. That way it's all there at a glance for my Docs. 2) I agree that beefing up the community part of the app with the above mentioned ideas would be helpful
Lastly, I have a weather tracker on my version but every time I try to use it I get a message saying it isn't available at this time. What am I doing wrong? Thanks again for being so user friendly and asking for input from us!
Good point, I'm a quad and portrait mode is often better for me to use,as I have the full length of the screen ....meaning my iPad is taller and therefore I can use my adapted stylus' better as I often have to use a mouth Pointer to type, landscape is harder as its lower down for me to bend my neck, with how I have my iPad set up
I've asked about portrait mode, there's supposed to be a tablet version of the catch my pain (not pain companion) that is portrait. I loved it, but then I got a glitch and now it only downloads the other version. I asked support about it, they said that the Downloader (Google play?) chooses a version to fit, but we can't choose ourselves. It would be cool if it was a setting within the app!
I love this app'. Well done. I think it's amazing. It would be nice to see where people come from.... like a little flag maybe. And then what county/state so if people then wanted to set up a physical support group in a set area, you could invite people along. I would love to set up a coffee afternoon twice a month for pain sufferers in milton keynes UK. We could share leaflets, gentle exercise, ideas, or just to see a face. 😆👩👦👵👧👴❤☕🍰
It would be great to be able to block someone like you can in facebook so you Don't have to see thier posts. Not because what they are posting is bad words or anything just because for what ever reason.
Chatroom chat room chatroom, to be able to speak with each other in real-time, is amazing support!!! I know that it is not a difficult task as my son is an architect solutions person in a company that does this sort of thing for other companies looking to make their internet sites bigger and better for their customers. I know that a few of us grabbed a hold of Facebook messenger to chat. It really helps at 2 o' clock in the morning and you feel utterly alone and in pain.I want Catchmypain to be the best with all the best tools for your customers... We need this site, this wonderful place that encourages us and uplifts each other...okay, I will step off my lil soap box..I love Catchmypain!! Love and Blessings , Terri R. (903-714-1644)
As mentioned already, it would be wonderful to have the ability to edit /correct your own posts. I hate seeing a typo after the "add reply" button was pushed. Font size for those of us using the program on our phones. The ability to add some type of overlay for noting nerve pain. Many of us have addressed this by using the lightest yellow but that changes what our pain looks like in the time line graph. Also a way to email all of the information EXCEPT the last memo page I keep my personal notes, diet changes and thoughts there. Some of what I journal there I would not want to share with my physician. As always thank you for a great app!
Not sure if this was mentioned already but being able to reply to a specific person's post instead of just adding one at the very bottom. Then you can comment on what they said right below their response.
I agree with all of AnnLeBlanc's ideas. Also, a graph people could contribute to which shows non-Rx remedies for discomfort (like meditation, massage, breathing techniques, acupressure, etc.) would be instructive. A way to indicate non-pain Sx like brain fog. Paintbrush sizes and styles. * Once I zoom the body it will not reduce. *Weather doesn't work on my Android. Thank You Very Much for this app. My Pain Clinic doc will be pleased.
Ouuchh, I use to be able to copy forward, in the CMP app, and it would forward the drawing and everything to another entry where I could make any changes. I downloaded the Pain Companion app on my tablet and began using it for everything but the pain entries, because the CMP app pain entries are better. But now it won't forward the drawing portion s and I have to re color each entry.
Green23, if you are using the Android tablet app, Pain Companion, there is the ability to private chat, but only if the other person is using the same program. They do not have the PC app ready for non Android version yet. I personally think it should be a priority, to get everyone the same access before adding any further stuff. Just my thoughts. 🙂💕🙏🌼
I wish they could put the pain charting into the pain compainion app, I love the pain charting of cmp but I love the way pain compainion looks, the private messaging, and just the over all feel of it. I just hate the pain charting of pain compainion as it doesn't have the drawing portion of it.
I agree! Thats why I use both apps pain compainion for the forum and cmp for charting. I hate having to use 2 apps. But its my only choice because there are no other pain charters like it, and I love the people on this forum too much to leave
I would love to see a color coded calender that I can show my doc for a quick summary of my pain. Something that would show a symbol for which type of pain for each day. Say, maybe a different symbol for each: ra, nerve pain, migraine, sjogrens, stress, ect... For the days that maybe two are the greatest problem, ability to show two symbols. Seems this would be simple to refer to and track with. Thanks!
I'd like to have a chat room here because sometimes replies get buried in talks between different people/columns and then answers/replies get lost until no longer relevant. Also we need a bug fix, the time and duration of pain entries is frequently non-responsive. This is important because my doctor uses Catch My Pain for charting the efficacy of meds she's prescribed and future planning.
It would be nice for brand new topics to show up with some type of flag, so we know it's "new.". Posts that have been on for 1-2 week or more shouldn't keep streaming as if they are a new post, even though additional comments are added.
I'm loving the ability to add photos with the Companion app, but the majority of my photos, are on my computer, not my phone, so I would love to see the ability added to the website as well. Thank you all for working so hard work you do on this site!
