How do I respond?

Jan 09, 2017 5:25 PM

I am 25 and my life has been getting steadily more difficult. I HURT constantly. The more I move the more I hurt. A week or so ago I was with some friends and got a flair of pain so bad I ended up crying. Since then they ask me a lot if I am OK and how I am doing. How do I respond with out sounding like I am being dramatic or wanting attention because I am NOT OK at all. I hurt and I'm constantly tired. I have pain ranging from mild all over oww on a very good day to pure agony on a bad. And there are more bad days than good.

I understand where u r. It's hard to start the conversation with loved ones. Have you. Been given a diagnosis yet? If so tell them what it is. And if you feel they really want to hear more give them site to research or have it with u. There is no real concrete way to tell ur family. All we can hope for is thst we find at least one that is willing to be there for you. I know this is not a very good answer bit I'd say just open the dialogue and see where it goes.

No have not been diagnosed yet. Going to a rheumatologist appointment on the 12th. Hopefully I can get some answers then.

Thst is the best place to start. Most of us have had good results with the rheumatologist. Take noted with you. Have questions and take any or all previous medical records with you. That will help the dr know you better.

There are a couple of things I give loved ones. One is called Letter to Normals. The other is called The Spoon Theory.

Even if you don't have a diagnosis both of these work well to explain what living with Chronic Pain is like. ((( hugs )))

You can either do a Google search for them or do a search here to bring up the different posts that mention them in them..

Hoping you can get answers soon. I think the not knowing is the hardest.
