How do you get a diognoses of fibro with doctors?

Oct 11, 2015 3:49 PM

Hey, I suffer from most if not all symptoms of fibro plus have sacriolitis, pelvic girdle pain, hip bursitis, sciatica, depression, cluster head aches and migraine, anxiety. I get random pains and fatigue and ache all over especially on a morning. I do have other symptoms but I just don't get no where with with help or diognoses. In fact just any diognoses to why I feel this pain and tiredness would be good. I just think from desprate reasurch my self that fibro fits my symptoms. Has it been a long journey for you? Love and hugs 💓💓

Hi Katy. It took me many years to get a diagnosis. I first remember what I now know was fibro pain when I was about 10, but it took till I was 41 before it was even suggested & tested for by a gp & subsequently confirmed by a rheumatologist when I was 42 a few months ago. I can only suggest writing down all your symptoms & taking the list to your doctor. Ask to be referred to a rheumatologist. Good luck.

She's right, a rheumatologist is the way to go.

I asked my Neurologist about getting a referral to a rheumatologist and he said he could do everything a rheumatologist can do.

Weezie, that's a cocky neurologist! That's like my PCP inferring he knew more about hypothyroidism than my endocrinologist. Lol

Katyhadenough, it takes years to be diagnosed officially. Keep a journal of your day to day activity and pain and symptoms. If an activity triggers pain or symptoms, notate what and why. It also takes a doc ruling out everything else while also having the symptoms of fibro for months without relief. There are so many illnesses that share common symptoms like fibro, sjogrens, and hypothyroidism. I have all three but had the fibro first and longest, since '07-'08. A rheumatologist is the way I would go, I'm actually under one now. Good luck and God bless! 🙏🌼

You might also ask for a sleep study. If you are not going to a deep sleep your body can not heal. Your exhuausted. Your brain did not clear. You ft or get things . And then that starts your thoughts racing.then you get anxiety. This makes you tense. I forget words and phrases . If someone sets it off I am almost permenatly at a disadvantage with them.

Thank you. I've see a rheumatologist and she was only interested in my knees as that's why they referred me. Guessing I need anther referral for the all over aches and pains and tiredness. My bloods are all fine as she done them all only last month to check for arthritis in my knees. I also done a list for my doctor who said that alot of things to suffer with and handed it me back 😯 ok thank you. I will keep trying for a diognoses. All the people in catch my pain are amazing.💓 😙😘😚

Get a second opinion by another rheumy doc or PCP, but make sure they know you're there for a while body exam (pain). Keep the list shortened with bullet style...
Problem 1 (knees)
Symptom 1 (stiffness)
Symptom 2 (pain while rising/walking etc) ...etc

Problem 2 (lumbar-sacrum)
Symp 1 (sharp pain down leg)
Symp 2 (tender to touch, throbbing, etc) ... Etc

Prob 3 (neck)
Symp 1 (tight, cramps, etc)
Symp 2 (Spasms, burning, etc) ...etc

This is how i make my lists; short descriptions but to the point. Good luck! 🙏🌼
