How to document numbness

Jan 29, 2018 8:40 PM

Hi, I've been trying to better document what I go through and how I feel. These apps have helped me with that greatly. I am struggling with one thing and would love feedback from you all.

How do you document numbness? I have a back injury and sciatic pain down both legs. I also have burning and numbness. The pain and burning can be severe and I can't document that on the body map easily. The numbness is trickier. It isnt typical "pain" but it can be just as debilitating at times. I wouldn't color it red but also not yellow or orange because it's different. There is burning that goes along with the severe numbness that I would color yellow but I don't think that explains the numbness correctly.

Maybe I just need to type it up in my comments and leave the colors to "regular" pain.

Hopefully this makes sense to someone. Thanks for being such a great support system!

That makes sense, I can understand what you're saying. The comments is a great idea and I'd recommend doing that no matter what. I went and played with the coloring of the body, maybe stripes of 2 colors or zig zags with colors you don't need on that part for intensity and then just a line where your pain is with the proper intensity over top so you can see both numbness and pain and in comments remind yourself yellow and red stripes is numbness and orange is pain. Or put your pain in the corresponding intensity color and use the erase feature and put dots of erase if there is numbness there? Best wishes, hope you sort it out😊

Thanks for your suggestions. I didn't even think about doing lines or dots. That's a great idea.
