Hurting too much to care.

Nov 01, 2015 4:59 PM

My "Pain" doctor keeps giving me meds that screw with my stomach and my head. I'm always dizzy, I fall at least 2 to 3 times a day, and my husband is a sweetie, but even he has a breaking point. I was diagnosed in 1997, and in a way, I was glad that he put a name to the hell I'm going through. I've done several types of pt. Chiropractors won't touch me because I've had back surgery (s). I feel like I'm on a merry-go-round and it won't stop.

Jma 1031 I am so sorry that you are having so much trouble. Do you use a walking cane or walker to help with your stability. I have a Service Dog that I trained to help with my stability.

Jma1031, I'm so sorry you're not finding a treatment method that doesn't cause bad side effects. I'm very sensitive to most medications, and have actual allergies to many of the pain meds. So I understand taking something that makes everything worse instead of better. This year I had to start using a cane, walker, or even ride an electric cart in big stores. I have developed dizziness and imbalance, due to Vestibular Neuronitis. I took several falls and rather than risk breaking a bone I'll use the assistive devices. If love to have a service dog like weezie some day, to help with picking things up of the floor of i drop it, among other things. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and hopefully you'll soon be getting treatment that works best for you. 🙏🌼

jMA a friend gave me great advice to deal w the incredible nausea. I eat 1 protien and 2 whole carb like an egg and 1/2 slice of Dave seed bread or other great bread w my cappachino for breakfast. Sounds good but not to me I am very nauseated in the am. also very important is one protien four carbs at bed w drugs like veggies w 2tbs hummus or a huge apple w 1/4c Peanutbutter. I still fight it but no where near what I used to. 🍎

Jma1031, sorry to hear. What kind of back surgeries? We sound kind of similar. I had 2 back surgeries for scoliosis when I was a teen. Ortho & Neuro docs haven't helped at all. When I tell them how much pain I'm in, they look at me like it's all in my head or I'm over reacting. I finally found a pain management doctor to work with. But you said something that caught my eye - even with my spine completely fused (T3-L4) - I still get chiropractic treatments weekly. That's literally the only thing keeping me going from week to week. You should check around. There are chirps that do different techniques. I actually practiced chiropractic for almost 10 years before I had to quit due to all my medical issues. I'd be more than glad to talk to you more if you're interested.

I have a chiropractor that doesn't use the twisting torso movements used by many. She still does gentle manipulations to put my spine or SI ones into place. 🙏🌼

Try to find a DO that does OMM he could be your primary are do their adjustment weekly. It's gentle and helps

Crps, what is OMM? Thanks. 🙏🌼

Nov 03, 2015 6:06 PM

It's osteopathic manipulative therapy. Hands on moving muscles, joints, pressure points ect. Very gentle and you just do a little each time. It is done by a DO vs MD.

I need to see if we have any DO's on our provider list. Thanks! 🙏🌼
