I will be living with fibromyalgia for the rest of my life, unless they find a cure. I know I am not as bad off as some of you guys/gals.... But it could be right down the road if I don't get my shit together! I am trying my best to educate and follow plans of excel isle and diet and blah blah as best as I can,but to no relief.i want to think that eating right , exercising, pacing, etc will be helpful, but the bit I've done I see no difference! What has everyone else tried??!?!?
I agree with Harris. I have to say, I too changed my diet, don't eat processed foods, stay away from gluten as much as I can and just make healthier choices. I do gentle stretching and slowly dance music I can get lost in. All the doctors always say, lose weight and you'll feel a hundred percent better. Well, I've lost almost 100 pounds this last year and I don't feel ANY better. Yes, it's a bit easier to move and it's better not to carry all that weight but as far as my pain and diseases, there has been no noticeable change. (I always found it a shame that doctors blame almost EVERYTHING on being overweight and they need to change their thinking). I encourage you to stay on your path. Things don't change over night. Stay strong and hang out with us!!
Most medical professionals just drink the kool-aid. By that I mean they only follow the algorithm and do not think out of their box. I am a medical degreed professional and find it appalling to be closed minded. Fist oath is do no harm. The human body does not always fit the algorithm -so one size does not fit all. I believe that most healthcare professionals start in the profession for the right reason's but get lost along way with far too many paperwork requirements taking us away from what we really need to do take care of patients. I live what I preach. I completely dumped the typical American diet if it is processed do not eat it. If it can stay fresh forever don't eat it. There is a small pastry with cream filling that has been in the office for more than five years- why would anyone eat this! Treat each person as an individual with compassion and empathy. As a patient demand it or go down the road. Keep up your spirits. I laugh when I hear don't smoke from a smoker, lose weight from someone obese. It is all I can do to not scream look at yourself!
