CatchMyPain Community and Pain Diary App to manage chronic illness

I guess it's easy to forget

Oct 16, 2015 8:14 PM

So, today I was playing apples to apples, and a card came up: hostile.
I decided to play that round honestly, and put in "my body," everyone laughed.
I get that part, but I feel like sometimes teens make fun of illness in ways they maybe shouldn't.
Like in beginning theater, the is who want attention, and need any excuse for their character to die.
Cancer, lupus, and infertility are all serious issues.
I want to speak up, but don't know how, being shy as I am.
Anyway, just a rant.
Hope everyone's having a bearable pain day.

Ferretbandit, you are so very articulate here with us and have such a good head on your shoulders. Why is it that you find it difficult to open dialogue with others? I know that kids can be the cruelest people (and I don't mean KIDS, I mean young folks. Then again, adults can be just as cruel so this da actually an unfair statement). I wish I knew how to direct you. I was always shy myself but with age and life experience I am neither shy not do I take any crap from anyone. You know you never have to worry about ranting here.. This is the place to do it!!! Sending you {{Hugs}} and hope you find a way to communicate the things you want to. 💕😊

AlwayZ is right ferretbandit. Is it possible for you to talk with just one other person in the group? Maybe they could help you explain it to others, especially if you have someone by your side. I was so shy in school I nearly passed out at my chorus performance in a group, and when I had to do my college project presentations. It gets easier each time. Make note cards with short descriptions and flip through as you say what you need to express. I'm sure others are just as scared as you. I looked above their heads without making eye contact the first time. Hugs... You can do this! 🙏🌼
